Winners and Losers of TDL Day

Created by: MitchMarner_16
Team: 2020-21 Custom Team
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 13, 2021
Published: Apr. 13, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
WINNERS:

Detroit Red Wings:
- They absolutely fleeced Washington in the Mantha-Vrana deal, making out with alot more than mantha is ever worth. They also acquired multiple draft picks this year. Overall, a quite successful trade deadline for the wings.

Toronto Maple Leafs:
- While not as emphatic as other teams, the Leafs made alot of nice depth moves along with getting other teams to retain salary. Everything accounted for, Toronto made alot of nice depth moves, with nothing really earth shattering going on.

Tampa Bay Lightning:
- With them winning the savard deal, they are a much better team. really deep and set for the playoffs.

LOSERS:

Buffalo Sabres:
- Sam Bennet got more than their best trading chip, Taylor Hall. They lost this deadline easy.

Washington Capitals:
- One deal broke it for me. They were fleeced in the mantha trade. before that deal, they were meh, nothing crazy.

MOST SURPRISING DEAL:

Mantha-Vrana Trade

I hate the caps and I don’t think they lost that deal yet. I think Mantha has breakout potential. I hope you’re right, but I think that could be a very good deal for Washington

Don’t forget about Chicago. I think Stan made many nice moves that they won value wise like the Gaudette and Janmark trades.

Not a Caps fan but just wanted to set the record straight. The deal was not Panik + Vrana + 1st + 2nd for Mantha the deal according to the panel on tradecenter was 2 seperate tradeses Panik + 1st for cap relief (which is now the going rate) and then Mantha for Vrana + 2nd

Washington paid a big price but honestly I think this one will go down as a win win for both teams. I like what Florida did too. Bennet and montour are sneaky good adds to a team already playing great. I'm more surprised that teams like carolina and Winnipeg did virtual nothing

Mantha should fit fantastically in their system. His stats this year undersell him, on the PP for example he is the only threatening shooting option Detroit had, so he was frequently very well defended, on Washington he will be 1 of many threats on the 2nd PP unit, in a full season with the caps he should comfortably get 30.
Detroit got a great return, but we won't be able to fully judge until we see the Vrana contract and who they select with the draft picks. This draft is a bit of a crapshoot, so they could concievably whiff on a late first, or pick a Pastrnak type.

Initially id agree, but as a caps fan I wouldnt get angry until around the time when Mantha's contract is expiring, by then you know what the picks are, can compare Mantha and Vrana's play on their new teams - personally I look at it as a bit of a win-win.

I'm not buying that totally. Panik deal is only like 6 million dollars total and he can play a little bit still. Maybe they kicked in the 2nd for him.

As I lightning fan I hope so. If Panik really costs a 1st I’m nervous for what Johnson would cost in the off-season.

Two seconds for Bennett seems to be a steal for the Flames
Hall and his NMC had limited number of teams he was willing to be traded too, and all those teams refused to pay a first rounder. Sabres management and fans on this site must be disappointed.
Like how the the Leafs added to the lineup without trading current players...but at the still a hefty draft price.....1st, 3rd, 4th, 4th 5th.
Isles added the most name players in the past week for their push.
So many teams at the cap, Covid restrictions made for a "dull" TDL. The best GMs had their teams "set" already.

The problem with Johnson is his term. He’s multi years and declining each year
