Oilers cant afford to pay Connolly for bottom 6 production even with retention

Here's the comp that needs to be made for Loui... Can Stan sign someone for less than $6M and flip them for more than a 2nd @ the TDL next year? I think he's just proven he can even if you sign Janmark to another 1 year deal. That's why the price was so high for taking on Loui @ the TDL. A 2nd won't cut it in my opinion.

Turris is at 1.65 million there receiving Connolly at 2 million and they have 31 million in cap space, They can afford it and I'm sure they'll like Connolly a lot better Turris.

At this point I don't see why seattle takes Dehaan over guadette/Kampf/nylander, whichever one we expose

I think Chicago can throw in a pick for de Haan to be selected

Nope, Connolly has been worse then Turris. Their both awful this year. Why would EDM pay you to take a cap dump while taking on a much worse cap dump...

I'd argue that despite last nights game (just one game) DeHaan has been the best player our of all those listed. If you're going by "Best Player Available" I think it's DeHaan. I'm just one person, but I do think it's by a decently wide margin too. If you're Seattle thinking you want a role player to situationally fit into my system....ok, I can get behind that thinking. Kampf might fit the role as their #4C and a PKer. If you're Seattle thinking...how the heck am I going pick 32 different players when I can only ice 19 on any given day? OK, I can see taking a few "higher risk" players and Nylander might fit, but I really don't think he's done anything in the NHL worthy of being taken. It's entirely draft status.

With that said....IF I WERE Seattle. I call Stan and ask for a pick despite me taking DeHaan anyway because you don't get what you don't ask for. Best available is likely the best approach 85%-90% of the time. I'd take 1-2 high risk players...Nylander wouldn't be a high enough of a ceiling for me. I'd take 3-4 specific role players. Kampf is possible, but there are other guys out there too.
