Description
very obvious we need a C available to play top 6. which ones of these options seem realistic for cbj at all?
Trades
1.
CBJ
ANA
2.
ARI
maybe the latest first we have + bemstrom for one of these?
    3.
    BUF
tbh i think this is more posible than some other candidates, even if we have to give Werenski, 2firsts, korpisalo and tex or something like that.
      4.
      CBJ
      1. Reinhart, Sam [RFA Rights]
      BUF
      5.
      CGY
dont like him, but CBJ talked to calgary about him in an Anderson swap. maybe something around domi?
        6.
        CGY
underrated but contract too long and dangerous imo, also needs to be better offensively
          7.
          COL
Sakic shouldnt do this but maybe if theyre absolutely positive Newhook will fit in 2C and they want to capitalize on Naz's value?
            8.
            LAK
would be a big trade obviously
              9.
              NSH
if NSH retains and pays us to take one of them, could see it happem
                10.
                NJD
would obviously be a blockbuster, including laine or werenski +. neither are likely but i think theyd part with hughes before nico
                  11.
                  12.
                  NYR
underrated players. neither are stud centers but probably better than most of CBJs current Cs
                    13.
                    PHI
                    14.
                    15.
                    16.

I like the coyotes guys and they have a new gm who may not be as high on them. I think that could be a deal.

Most of the trade options are a no, or would cost too much tbh.

I’d love to take a look at Danault, he wants a top line role like he had in Montreal before Suzuki got there, I would offer him a 6.5x6 contract.

No from the Avs. Why would they deal a cost-controlled 2C when they're trying to compete? Makes no sense.

The Sabres would need a 1st line C to come back, and doesnt really need a top pair LD with Dahlin. Korpisalo is also not having a good year, I dont think CBJ has enough.

No from the Avs. Why would they deal a cost-controlled 2C when they're trying to compete? Makes no sense.

Most of the trade options are a no, or would cost too much tbh.

I’d love to take a look at Danault, he wants a top line role like he had in Montreal before Suzuki got there, I would offer him a 6.5x6 contract.

Or they could make Landeskog a strong offer in UFA over the summer.
He is about the youngest and best center that will be available (in addition to Danault, who is also a UFA this summer).

sign him anyway...he can score as well as set up.

Turcotte for Werenski has a lot of appeal, but I think he's too far off in development time for you. I see 2023-2024 as the first season he could reasonably be your #2C.

Monahan, Strome and Hertl seem to fit your time window better.

I don't think Steel will ever be more than a #3C or Terry more than a #3RW; we don't usually use him at center.

Philly fans on CapFriendly seem to have given up on Patrick prematurely; I don't think Flyers management has.

Play for a cup-contender or play for Columbus? In Ohio. For Tortorella.

Tortarella won’t be there next year. I don’t see him leaving Colorado though unless Joe decides not to pay him.

Steel/Terry: We already have developing project Cs; more are not helpful.
Schmaltz/Dvorak: The Coyotes aren't exactly flush with centers either, so it'll probably cost too much. But if the opportunity is there, maybe.
Eichel: We don't have the right assets to make it happen.
                      Reinhart: Not actually a C.
Monahan: Goal-scorer so wouldn't fit with Laine, and I fear they'll ask for #1C prices, which is too much.
Backlund: As you said, the contract term is dangerous.
Kadri: Newhook isn't that close yet so they won't be motivated to move him.
Turcotte/Vilardi: Won't be ready soon enough to realistically help.
Duchene/Johansen: Too expensive and the term is dangerous.
Hughes/Hischier: Neither will plausibly be moved for what we have to offer.
Nelson: Nobody available to take his place over there so the cost will be too high.
Chityl: Doesn't have sufficient upside or sufficient experience to be worth what it'd take to get him (he's not going to be the #1C we need, and he's too young to be a decent mentor to the folks we have already).
Strome: Maybe, if the Rangers don't ask for too much.
Hayes: Disaster contract in the making.
                      Patrick: Same as Steel/Terry.
Hertl: Maybe, but I suspect San Jose wants to keep him.
Cirelli: Would be great if it can be done but I'm not sure what we can meaningfully provide to Tampa Bay that would entice them to give him up.
                      Glass/Krebs: Same as Turcotte/Vilardi.
Karlsson: Why would they trade their #1C while they're competing?
Kuznetsov: Maybe, if the Capitals don't ask for too much.
RNH: Have you seen his production 5-on-5? He's probably going to ask for more than he deserves.
Danault: My favorite option, but still likely to be a tad pricey.
Krejci: If he'll take a short-term deal, could be an excellent option.

That doesn't make him an actual center option. It means that if we get desperate we can try Domi Part 2.
