Off-season shake up:
I think its time to move on from Gaudreau , it clearly isn’t working and we have seen a regression in his offensive numbers, not to mention never had and still doesn’t posses a two-way game. With the hiring of Sutter and him and gaudreau already butting heads I don’t see that relationship getting any better. Connor Mackey is a depth d man that wont make the big club. Myers is a young d man continuing to grow Calgary would hope to see hi grow into a top 4 role replacing Anderson. Aube-Kubel is a young forward who can provide some spark and sandpaper in the bottom six forwards. The 2nd round pick is provided to balance out the deal as Gaudreau is the best player in the deal.
Biggest issue last year was goal scoring and that was with Gaudreau n the line-up. There for the addition of Nylander , Toronto need some cap flexibility and a top 4 RHD, also having a player of some youth on an affordable deal that can grow with this core. Anderson checks all these boxes, and Calgary get there trigger man they have been looking for. Kerfoot is thrown in to relieve more cap for the leafs and gives the flames more depth scoring. Ruzicka is a young player on an entry level deal under control who could compete for a roster spot. The 2nd round pick is meant to balance out the value and provide Toronto with a much needed draft pick, as Nylander is the best player in the trade.
