1.
DET
  1. Johnson, Tyler
  2. 2022 1st round pick (TBL)

They would have to pay a first for DET to take the contract, right?

    DET
    1. Gardiner, Jake
    2. 2022 2nd round pick (CAR)
    Additional Details:
Would a second be fair for DET to take on his contract?
    3.
    DET
    1. 2021 2nd round pick (WPG)
    Additional Details:
WPG needs to buff up its defense this offseason and Stecher would be a good match because no free agents want to sign in Alberta, Canada (no offense)

    1. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
    TOR
    1. 2021 2nd round pick (DET)
    2. 2022 3rd round pick (DET)

        DET
        1. 2021 1st round pick (COL)

I'd do that. I would suggest you not wanting Yzerman to resign though. Maybe he can be your assistant

Winnipeg needs top 4D, not bottom pairing guys. They might have interest in Stecher as a depth guy, but not for a 2nd.

I thought it was hilarious. When some of the then-Oakland Raiders wore that shirt ahead of a pre-season game I also thought it was funny too

Leafs ask "what drugs are you on?" and hang up. Not giving away our first-rounder (which is major trade capital for what will surely be another year of contention next season) in what is supposed to be a deep draft for an extra set of magic beans in a garbage draft.

I guess I didn't think about them wanting to hold onto it to trade next year. It is probably more likely they trade their second this year for a third and fourth or something like that. They will still want to increase the number of picks without having to give up a roster player.

I disagree. I think teams would rather increase the number of picks they have because there is less certainty. I'm just making the point that DET has so much draft capital they should be willing to move up for higher quality prospects.

"Players don't like to sign in Alberta"
Trades him to Winnipeg when talking about Alberta

tears of joy grimace awesome face thanks for the laugh

Oh, and I don't see why the leafs do that. When they did a similar trade in 2015, they got 2 2nds and a 3rd for the 24th overall pick, which is probably similar (maybe slightly after).

Also giving up a pick in a stronger draft, and trading the first before they know where it will land... big mistake.

Or, for similar reasons, why Colorado does this.
