Depending on where you draft, and who is drafting before you. Is who will be available. Raty is a interesting one, but I think a LHD like I said in the other flames fan post would be a better choice if you are picking in the top 10.

if we get a top 3 pick it should be one of Owen Power, Luke Hughes, or Matt Beniers. in that order.

They are currently around the 7-8 slot so I’d say Guenther or Chaz Lucius. No real elite C’s this year.

I would stay away from Raty. I would rather take a guy that has risen up the draft boards throughout the season instead of a guy that’s slid.

The Flames will likely pick in the 7-10 range. You’re looking at the likes of Guenther, Wallstedt, Lysell, Johnson, Edvinsson, Lucius, Sillinger

But to answer your question, they need to draft the best player available. This is an organization without any real high end prospects. It looks like they will be picking in the top 10, they need to make sure they get this pick right

At least Bennett is an NHL player.

The real failure was the 2013 and 2014 drafts after the Monahan and Bennett picks. Those were the first two drafts of the rebuild and the Flames struck out on every pick after their 1st rounder in those years. It’s really held the team back along with Bennett only being a bottom 6er. It’s too bad

Too true. The Flames have only started drafting well recently. I think their picks last year were pretty decent.

Since 2015, there’s been a philosophical change in how they approach the draft. They are coveting players with one or two high end attributes, instead of “safe” players.

Guys like Wolf and Mangiapane are examples.

And Dubé and Mangiapane. They’ve done decently well. One problem has been that they e traded away first round picks at least twice. Once to get Hamilton and then to get Hamonic. I think it’s time to blow it all up or if no one agrees with me. Te load a bit and try again next year and then blow it up after it still does not work.

I think they should rebuild, but the ownership just won’t sign off on it. The Flames will continue to float between 6-10th in the conference.

It’s tough because they need the playoffs revenue like everyone else. It’ll sink in when Giordano can no longer carry the team.

Lysell or Johnson would be a great pick.

I like both a lot. Cole Sillinger is pretty much the prototype for the type of player Treliving covets so that wouldn’t surprise me

If we don't win the lottery, Beniers/Eklund/Guenther will probably all be gone by the time we pick. If one of them slips, they're tier one for me among forwards. We don't need a LHD unfortunately (Hanifin has been excellent this year, Valimaki has shown real promise and I think he'll be very good, Kylington/Mackey/Kuznetsov/Poirier are all LHD in the system as well) which is the real strength of this draft, so we'll likely pass on them. I'd probably be looking at Johnson, Lysell, or Clarke for the Flames. Wouldn't hate Raty or Sillinger but I think we're gonna be picking high enough to get a better forward than them, I can't see Power/Hughes/Clarke slipping out of the top 7 and Edvinsson or Lambos could be in there too so there should be some good forwards for us to choose from and that's where we need the most help.
