Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 13, 2021
Published: Apr. 14, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team needs to make the next step and to do that they need a legit starting goalie, signing impact FA`s, getting depth scoring, Mcdavid to carry his own line and McDavid and Draisaitl to commit to taking care of their own end more.

Seattle wants a 1st to take on players. I think it is worth it for Edmonton to get rid of a contract and sign a big FA or two with the money rather than use the pick.

I think that Nuge you maybe let walk if he wants a big pay day and I get a sense he might want a change too. I think you can use the money elsewhere and get just as much or more out if it.

I'd rather Grubi, Dreiger over Andersen

    - Neal's buyout results in a $1.9M cap hit
    - $1.9M buys a bottom-6 forward
    - Bottom-6 forwards aren't worth a 1st in the deepest draft in a generation

Nix that Seattle deal. It's not like you're using the cap space anyhow.

I like most of this in principle, but I can't overstate how much of an overpay this would be on Lowry and especially Nash. Lowry might fetch this if the cap wasn't flat, but there's no way Nash gets more than 1,5mil, and that's being generous.

I think Grubi is less likely to be available and disagree on Dreidger

Its not a buyout, Seattle takes on his contract.

And yes it was used, I left cap space for Klefbom and for deadline acquisitions. The next year they need to have some cap ready to resign some guys.

FA is always tough to predict especially this early. I think it will be flat cap and guys will get less than expected as a result BUT players pryed from other teams also get more money than they actually should.

I could see Nash getting less yes. I don`t think Lowry goes to another team unless they pay him handsomely.

Try following the logic. I couldn't have made it simpler.

My bad to be honest I didn`t even read it after the first line haha. That makes sense then but I don`t know where you are getting this "deepest draft in a generation" from...

I don't consider myself an expert on the 2022 draft, but I've read a little about it. And from what I've read, it could rival 2003 in depth.
