Hawks would probably make this trade without VAN retaining. Subban for Eriksson and 2021 1st. For VAN the 1st would probably have to be top 2 overall protected.

Wow, a potential top 10 pick for LE's contract.

Teams will line up for that Ericsson trade. Get him for 4.5, bury him and save another 1+ mil on the cap and collect a top 8ish pick.

Cost a more than a 3rd for Seattle to take Holtby. Obviously they'd buy him out. Do they pay 3.8 mil cash for a 3rd rd pick???

Dont see why Seattle would buy out holtby. Hes not been great, but seattle could ride his contract for the next year and save themselves from a buyout penalty further along.

Instead of paying 3.8 mil they pay 5.7 mil for a 3rd rd pick and a buried goalie?? Holtby is the 5th-6th best goalie available in the expansion draft and ~12th best if you include ufa goalies...

I dont think it will matter that much to them as I dont see them trying to be super competitive. Holtby is having a down year but its possible for him to bounce back and while i think a 3rd is less than enough for seattle, unless they think they can emulate vegas completly, which i doubt, there isnt a ton of downside to keeping him, especially if he can bounce back from this year.

Hawks would do that without retention.

He's not taking net time away from Vanecek. Khudobin, Allen or Adin Hill/Kuemper will round out the goalies for Seattle...
