I'm higher on Laine than most and there's no way I would do this. The contract is fine considering it's only 5 years and NJ has a ton of cap, but their 2022 and 2023 firsts could both easily be in the top 3 and those drafts are loaded at the top.

I think this would be a massive mistake for the Devils even if those 1sts are in the second half of the 1st round (ie they make the playoffs). Laine is simply not worth close to 10 million at the moment
