Description
The jets are still very much in the market for a top 4/top pairing shutdown rd. I’d go after savard from a jets perspective but he will likely require an overpay unless he takes a discount. I’d look at Erik Johnson of the avs if they decide to move him because of the expansion or he gets picked up by Seattle. Severson would be a fit. Pulock is obviously someone the jets should chase hard if he leaves the isles. Hometown boy. Maybe Tanev becomes available if the flames decide to go full rebuild. Manson is a fit but isn’t a long term solution. Maybe klindberg if Dallas doesn’t do well. Ristolainen. The list ends pretty quick after that though. Idk we will see. With Chevy not doing anything over the tdl, he needs to do something over the summer or he won’t be sitting in his gm chair as comfortably.

I went for Manson cause I think the jets should go hard for pulock in FA 2022.

Doubt Ottawa will want to move zub but they get a solid nhl ready player with top 6 potential (middle-six floor) and is 3 years younger. They have docker coming up so how necessary is zub?

Lol no chance is Ottawa doing that. Zub has been an incredible addition for Ottawa. He's only 25, and an RFA, There's absolutely no reason he can't be a long term part of the future in Ottawa.

Didn't the Jets have a quiet deadline only because Manson would not waive?

And yeah, Zub's gotta be a key piece that OTT won't part with.

Fair point, just a thought. They do have docker and thompson coming soon. Fair enough though

Sure, but that's not a deal you make when those guys have zero games played. You know what Zub is at the NHL level, and while I think JBD has the potential to be a better player, he still needs to actually do it.

Also I'd be pretty surprised if Zaitsev plays out the full remainder of his contract in Ottawa.

If you're dead set on Manson why not do Vesalainen and a 2nd for him and keep DeMelo?

Savard would be my choice as well in Free Agency. Hoping the PLD connection from Columbus helps our case too.

Considering Chevy said “ask the teams why they didn’t go through” I don’t think that’s the issue. More likely teams backed out at the last minute or were simply asking too much or increased the price. Chevy sounded pissed at his interview.
