Jarmo is much higher than 23 tbh, he seems to always have good drafts and someone makes good trades (how he got a 1st for Savard and Folingo I’ll never understand).

Also Stan Bowman took Chicago to 3 cups, that alone deserves to be top 10.

Based on career, Wilson, Murray, and Holland are way higher. Based on season... I'd actually put Dorion higher (i know right?) and even if biased, definitely Dubas higher.

As much hate as Benning gets, I see no reason why Treliving shouldn't be below him. Bennings made some stupid moves, but he still has an upward trending team. Treliving has a team without direction as well as endless stupid decisions (that hamonic trade might be worse than anything Jim has done)

Also, am I the only one that thinks Pierre Dorion is a great GM? Guy has done an excellent job getting value out of guys I otherwise thought carried very minimal value, and all his draft choices are paying off wonderfully. Worst owner in the league probably forces his hand.

Zito has also been a top 5 GM for me THIS SEASON. Remarkable effort. Why's he behind Fitz? Or Jim Nill? wut.

Yeah, I'll give you that. Its quite awful. But I think his other moves hide over it. Not like Ottawa is going to be tight on cap any time soon.

I don't get the BriseBois hype.

The efforts he is praised for in Tampa are largely the product of Stevie Y. Coleman / Goodrow trades were exactly what the team needed, but at a steep price. Price doesn't matter when the team wins the cup, but it should when evaluating the GM. That narrative is starting to repeat itself this year again.

I just don't see any reason other than success to have him as a top 5, or even top 10 -- at least yet. This offseason and the cap hell (unescapable, this time) will show how good of a GM he really is.

dubas has made 1 mistake, the other trades were to phase out the "6th place GM"s mistakes

I agree with that. I may be overhyping him but I liked the moves he made to win a cup. If he could get out of this cap situation, he should deserve to be in top 3/top 5

I agree with most the points made here.
Every GM has their strengths and weaknesses. Draft, salary cap, development, trades, etc.
This was a current ranking...as if I were a new owner and had to hire one of these guys.

Just one guys view.
I encourage others to post their own ranking.

What about Danault and Romanov for Weise and Fleishman? Petry for a second and a 4th? Patch for Suzuki, Tatar and Norlinder? Weber for Subban? Domi for Anderson (after Chucky for Domi)? Shipping guys like Scandella and Kovalchuk for 2nd picks? Signing Toffoli?

His only bad move per say is Drouin for Sergachev but then again, Drouin is young and still provide 50+ pts a year which is still great.
