I think the Jets would be interested in Severson, but no chance they give up that much for two years of him. Our would also be highly unlikely the Jets consider including Samberg.

I don't think the Devils consider that.

It is a serious offer, but Severson is too important to Devils right now.
Subban has one year remaining. Vatanen, Kulikov just left. Murray leaving at end of year.
And prospects like Okhotyuk, Mukhamadullin, Bahl, McCarthy, Walsh, Misyul, Edwards, etc are still question marks.

Just for conversation sake, if Devils were to trade Severson, it would more likely be one-for-one for another core piece.
Devil liked this.

We don't really have any core pieces with 2 years of control left. The closest we have is Copp at 1 year of control.

Since you're here, I was wondering about a different sort of trade with the Devils. Your GM made a comment at the trade deadline that they are going to wait to fill their 3rd protected spot for D until the offseason, which made me wonder about potentially moving Stanley to you to be your 3rd protected D. Then you'd have Smith and Stanley as proven NHL level D and would just need one of Bahl or Mukmahdulin(????) to pan out and your left side is locked down long term, with potentially 2 monsters over there. Do you think you'd have any interest in that? I'm assuming you'd want a player that fits the timeline with Hischier and Hughes and ideally was a 1st round talent, or at least that's what I'd want. I was thinking the Islanders 1st round pick would be the main part of the return but it feels light to me considering Stanley was a 22nd OA pick himself and we've spent the time developing him. Don't need to sweat the details, just wondering if it would be of interest at all or not.

Stanley for whom?
We could use another monster.

You are misinterpreting our GM's comments. He talked about keeping the 3rd slot open to retain any salary in a deal and not a protection slot for the Expansion draft. We already have 3 defenseman that are worth protecting.
