Subban is probably the most overrated player of this century. He was never more than a 2nd pair offensive d man. Right now he’s significantly worse than that. He’s brutal.

He has not been "brutal"
He has been, as you said, "a 2nd pair offensive d man"

Its the contract that has been an issue.
He is just an overpaid 2nd pair d man.

Also, for some reason, people love to hate him.

You would need a different destination for kulak as we have a long list of D and prospects coming up and prospects we have waiting for our log jam to clear. But we get the idea.

Why are Habs fans so insistent on giving us Kulak? Even before the Zac Jones signing, I have probably seen about 4 dozen Kulak to the Rangers proposals over the last couple months.

No idea how/why that started.
