Holl is fine for the defender if he survives the expansion draft. (You'd better hope so because if Seattle selects him instead of Kerfoot, you almost certainly won't be able to add Lowry.) That gives you a budget of roughly $2 million to sign one forward and $1 million to sign another. That would all work out great except that I don't see Freddie re-upping for only $3 million. Nevertheless, you'll still be a contender next year.

Coleman, Granlund, Foligno, Galchenyuk. Any of which, I’m sure, would be fine as a 2LW/3LW. Hyman as the 1LW, Robertson as a 2LW/3LW.

And what’s wrong with Holl?

Ik a lot of fans like him but he just isn’t a top 4 defend man on other contending teams, plus if there is the money to get a better one, y not.

I was sorta thinking have Hyman on second line and Robertson on third line. I don’t think human boosts the productions of the top line, that line just needs someone with offensive instincts and who can forcheck, similar to galch but I’m not sold on him being on that line.

Freddy will get around that amount, his save percentage is under nine hundred so how can u give him more. I highly doubt leafs protect 7-3-1. Wouldn’t make sense because of the amount of third line centre hitting free agency. So assuming Freddy(or any other goalie doesn’t rlly matter) signs for three mil, and u would want to have hill as the rd2, who would u sign to play on the left for three mil?

Other contending teams don't have Holl so I don't get this argument. If he's playing well and part of your success, plus is cheap, why not? Lots of good top 4 defensemen may not jump out at you but they do their jobs as shut down guys. I'm also not convinced they keep Freddy tbh.

he is a third line centre, the third line centre on the jets who also plays in their top six got three million, I don't think the jets offer him more than that considering Lowry can't play in their top 6

That’s fair. But if you take a look at 2022-23 we have worse cap troubles than we do the off-season. Handing out contracts to new players would complicate that even more. Someone cheap, or short term is the best option for next year

Welcome to CapFriendly, by the way.

I see nothing wrong with Galchenyuk at $1.625 and Foligno at what he's making now. Or you could give Galchenyuk a little more and find someone to play #4LW for a million or so -- shouldn't be a problem. I think that your real challenge is finding the right goalie if Campbell is unable to shoulder the load of #1A (I'm rooting very hard for him). With the exception of the unproven Chris Driedger, all of the upcoming UFAs (Mrazek, Raanta, etc.) have some shortcoming(s).

they only rlly have Reilly to resign but they also have an extra 1.2 mil that year because the vessel retention is gone
