That's a nice lineup. Could re-sign Samsonov and have a 1A/1B situation, or sign a veteran backup like Halak, and trade Samsonov for assets.

Pretty much perfect value for a middle six forward who can play up in the lineup in a pinch. Really like him so far.

I'd probably give Samsonov another year to see what you have. Don't want to move him too early and have it backfire.

Jensen is a legit top 4 IMO, not to mention TVR can also play top 4 if needed

Jensen has really turned his game around this year. He's looking really solid. If Schultz is taken, that obviously hurts depth, but I think the Caps can make due with a RD of Carlson, Jensen, and TvR.

I'm in between, I think he's a viable 3RD, but that's all. I was thinking the RD needed help in that lineup, and if you traded Samsonov, that's what I'd be aiming for to improve.

Schultz being taken is probably the best case scenario. I think now we have to protect Sheary with the 7-3-1 format or he’s a top candidate to get picked up. Don’t sign Ovie til after expansion so we have an extra spot open.

Yeah, 100% agree on Ovi. I feel like that's the strategy at this point, and Seattle would be super dumb to waste a pick in the expansion draft on Ovi, who wouldn't re-sign with them.

I hope they pick Ovie and he walks. I guarantee they’d give him a blank check if they did pick him, Ovie would sell that arena out every night their inaugural season.

Leonsis would probably fire GMBM on the spot if he lets Ovi walk. Ovi isn't just a player, he's a business asset. Without Ovi, I doubt the DC market is the hockey market it is today.

I should've clarified what I meant a little bit. I hope Seattle picks Ovie and he walks from Seattle and comes right back here. You're 100% correct, though. Ovechkin made hockey in DC what it is today.
