This doesn’t work because Seattle didn’t even make the cap floor. I expect some teams to make trades to incentivize picking particular players with higher salaries to remedy this.

They only need to draft a minimum of $48.9 salary cap. Then they can just use free agency to get to the floor.

Do you think there’s a chance Suter waives to be exposed? Not picked, but to give the Wild the 7-3-1 option?

With enough negativity around Risto and Botterill helping run things in Seattle, Sabres may be better off protecting Borgen. Worst, worst case scenario is they lose a year of Risto who probably isnt coming back

I’ll never say never, but the chances are going to be against any team who banks on a player waiving a NMC.

For the Devils, I think they protect Subban over Butcher

Wow you really think so? I would’ve imagined that NJ could get like a 5th for Butcher in a hypothetical trade, whereas they’d have to pay to move Subban in said hypothetical trade

Subban is much more important to the Devils than Butcher. Butcher's value is a 3rd and if we lose him I could live with that. Subban is a great locker room guy and a great leader for the young guys. He's having a bounce back year. If we were to move him at 50%, I would think he would have a good amount of value
