Cant you guys just protect Brodin, Spurgeon and Dumba? Seattle wouldn’t take Suter. That would obviously mean Suter would have to waive his NMC but I’m sure he would since he won’t get picked.

Is that a 1st for the Ducks to momentarily hold Dumba or Seattle just not to pick him?

I think it depends how low the pick is, and who is being selected instead.

I recall reading that GMs were going to be less nice and not offer picks for Seattle to not pick a certain player(s). “Just take one player and get out of here” sorta mentality and don’t give them too much to start out with. I’m not sure if that narrative has changed. It wouldn’t effect some teams with no major players to lose, or teams trying to pay something to rid a cap dump, but those handful of teams right in the middle, the vulnerable ones, I am not yet sure how they’ll lean

Probably not the 1st but I could see Parise waiving over Suter and that would allow us to go 8+1 and protect the 4 obvious dmen and Zucc (NMC), greenway, fiala, and JEE. I would worry we’d lose Foligno then, though.

You protect Foligno over Greenway everyday of the week and it’s not even a question. Regardless of on ice impact, Greenway’s next contract will be too rich for his contribution unfortunately. I’d bet money either Parise (likely) or Suter has volunteered to waive. Regardless of what happens, MIN does not lose Dumba in the expansion draft.

I agree Foligno more important to the team than Greenway. The beauty of it is, is that Greenways value has never been higher so maybe Wild don't trade Dumba maybe they trade Greenway before deadline.

I would rather go 4-4-1 in the expansion draft and trade a future to Seattle to take Soucy. Worst case Greenway goes and you don't lose anything else
