Keep Eichel Lose Ullmark

Description
With his neck injury, I don't think he pushes for a trade. And afterward, even with an NMC, I think it's worth risking it around a top-10 C who's guaranteed 90+ pts a season. Gotta make a ballsy choice somewhere.

Even Ballsier: Let Ullmark walk. Kinda crazy, but his injury record scares me if we're gonna drop 5x5 on him. I just don't see it working out for us in the long-term, and it makes sense to rip the band-aid off now rather than later.

I personally don't think Korpisaalo is better than Ullmark, but he's much more likely to be healthy, and the tandem of Korpisaalo/Hill is overall much better than what we've been with Ullmark and Hutton/Tokarski. Buying low on Korpisaalo is fine with Hill also not at his full potential either.

Not sure on the value of the ARI trade--I figure ARI will lose Hill to expansion unless they deal him, but maybe I'm wrong? All depends how this season turns out (playoffs or not) and how they feel about Keumper going forward.

TBL trade is kinda iffy, but it solves RW depth, and Ox and Girgs' contracts comes off when Johnson's contract might otherwise hurt. Instead of a 2022 first I'd take Colton instead, who I think is a beast that TBL can't afford to keep around (roster-wise or cap) and young center depth is always a good thing to have. Let him and Mitts battle it out for 3C. Johnson is still a good player imo, most of his analytics are positive, and his acquisition is much less painful compared to other RW targets like Garland.

It would have to be Buffalo’s 2nd and 3rd rounder, not Boston’s. Maybe just your 2nd plus a solid prospect could be close to fair value. Remember 2nd and 3rd rd selections from playoff bound teams is more like actually getting a 3 and a 4. That is not acceptable to Columbus

You're right in saying Eichel won't push for a trade bc he'll wait til next summer and once his NMC takes hold then he pulls a Hall and he goes to Boston or NY. The Sabres can't let him and what teams they can deal with have that advantage.

You can have Korpisalo for Buffalos 3rd... dude is a 1b goalie at best imo. Also I would say that Ullmark and Korpisalo would be a solid goalie tandem. No need for Hill.

Pretty sure we can do better than that.
