the only way the penguins even have a chance to Jack is if he goes out and pull a PLD skate. He would have to publicly screw the team to kill his value. Even then they probably have 4-5 other teams out bid them.

So we give up a 1st, a 2nd, a young top 6 defenseman, and a young 40-50 point winger for an aging overpaid center? seems legit

No they don’t, Zito is going to use his money to get Barkov resigned long term. No need for an aging often injury player at $9.5 mil but nice try

A late first, duclair isn’t that good, or young anymore lol. He’s a dime a dozen player. And malkin overpaid? Best joke I’ve heard all day. He’s an elite centre in this league who was on pace for over 110 points last year, and was heating up this year before he got injured. This is an absolute fleece for Florida. Pens would never in a million years make this deal

If he was elite he wouldn't be under PPG
players under ppg aren't worth 9.5 million either
This trade is an L for florida

Malkin has one year left on his contract. He wouldn’t interfere with signing barkov at all. This is an absolute no brainer for Florida. Can’t believe I’m even arguing this.

He got off to an awful start like the entire Pens team and was heating up before injury. I guess Barkov wasn’t elite last year because he was under a PPG too and wasn’t even good defensively? It’s funny because even on a “down year” malkin is still better than basically your whole team.

Take your L and move along

I think the funniest part is seeing Florida fans seriously say they wouldn’t do the malkin trade lol

LMAO the only players you could say are Barkov Huberdeau and Ekblad. That’s 3. Verhaeghe??? I’m dead lmfao. He’s scraps having a fluke season. Better than malkin? Wow.

And that’s this year considering malkin’s rough start. Every other year of malkins career he’d be by far the best panther. Even at his age I’m willing to trust the large sample size of never being under a PPG that malkin is still AT WORST a PPG centre, which is better than practically your whole team

We are talking about this year

Driedger .930, better than 24 pts in 29 games
Weegar top 20 defenseman this year and analytically like top 3 defensive defenseman
Verhaeghe 17 goals, 35 points in 42 games, better PPG than Malkin while being better defensively

Dreiger also hasn’t even played 20 games yet. He’s a backup goalie having a hot season.

Weeger is good but he’s most certainly not a top 20D

Verhagee isn’t anything special either. Again, fluke season. I’m not even gonna engage in this sort of nonsense seriously comparing NHL reject Carter Verhegee to NHL legend Evgeni Malkin

NHL legend =/= elite this season
Weegar is 2nd place most even strength points by a defenseman, no PP time, while having elite defensive numbers (takeaways, advanced stats, etc)
Verhaeghe has had better numbers, 27 even strength points is more points than malkin has total
Chris Driedger has been great for 2 seasons now, isn't the backup anymore, especially as of late

Like I said, malkin got off to a horrible start like the rest of the Pens team, but if you actually watched any Pittsburgh games you’d know that he was heating up before injury. The skill / talent is still there, he just got off to a bad start. It happens. He’s still an absolute elite player.

Not even gonna entertain this nonsense. Don’t even know why I bother. Pens would never offer this trade, and while maybe you wouldn’t make this deal, Bill Zito certainly would. Not even considering the marketing malkin adds for a starving, dying, franchise like Florida.

This starving, dying franchise is currently tied for 5th place in the NHL with significant injuries, and is already starting to attract some bandwagon fans
All of the players I listed have been better than Malkin this year, I showed why, and you ignored my reasoning... Malkin is good, but not worth that

Just because statistically they may be having a better season, does not mean they are better players than malkin. That’s the furthest thing from the truth. Malkin still has it. He’s still an elite talent. A slow start doesn’t sink his value.
