id still accept that, why would Tampa be hesitant to trade away the 22 1st?

These look great. I'd love to see them sign Arvid Soderblom out of the SHL and give him a legit look in net too.

          - Neal's buyout results in a $1.9M cap hit
          - $1.9M buys a bottom-6 forward
          - Bottom-6 forwards aren't worth a 1st
          - Edmonton has $26.1M in cap space this summer with a Neal buyout and RFA's signed, they aren't desperate for that $1.9M

In short, you aren't getting a 1st to take James Neal. Not this year, not next.

I'm not trying to trade him to anybody. If he's not healthy (he really hasn't been since contracting COVID) I'd put him on LTIR. If that's not workable, he can be bought out. No big deal, lots of cap space.

My point was that there are a lot of Edmonton fans on this site who just won't accept the reality of cap space value in the current climate. I agree with you that they will buy him out. I was only commenting on the value of him being traded to my team and the fact that fans of your team won't stop trying. Plenty of recent precedents back up what I'm saying about the perceived value of cap space right now.

Cap space is a valuable commodity if you don't have any. Edmonton has plenty this summer, they aren't paying a 1st to get <$2M more. I agree that a team that's tight to the cap and needs to shed a bad contract will have to pay dearly, but that doesn't describe the Oilers going forward.
