any available RHD prospect

Created by: MTLaveragefan

Description
Webbs is getting old, Petry is like a fine wine... but we have no one to replace them in the future... We'll finally have all the LHD in the world... but no RHD... starting the cycle all over again.

Just like now.... we had only LW.. but now we are overflowing with RW.

What RHD prospect would be available?

AVS fans chill - I know that you match that or what not... the point is to discuss the available RHD on the market. And Makar is clearly not available.

He can be a decent top 4... but I don't expect him to dislodged old-man weber any time soon.

I don't know much about Liljegren, but I out him in the same basket as Fleury and Brooks... maybe I'm wrong.

I guess it's rare that a kid comes along and is ready right away... especially Dmen

lol I think Lenny7 is being facetious my friend. Fleury isn't looking like an NHL player at this point...

tears of joy I know I typically am, but I actually like Fleury. Now that my beloved Ducklings have Haydn, I dream of a Haydn/Cale D pairing (Though it'd probably be a bad plan...)

I was surprised that they really abandoned both he and Mete so quickly.

Edit: I guess I shouldn't say "abandoned" for Fleury, since he's just in the AHL, but after 41 games in the NHL last year, you see what I'm saying.

Brook might be a #4 d-man but that is not for another 2 to 4 years from now. Fleury will never be more than a 6, if he makes it. He has been inconsistent in Laval this year. Not brutal and not great, middle of the road. So in this upcoming draft I predict RD's and LW's as draft picks.

Also, Habs have 8 LD's as prospects, not counting NHL roster. You pick your best 3 out of the 8 and trade the rest to fill the void of RD's & LW's

Well they have Petry, and then I think Weber is still an NHL asset he just needs a reduced role.

Fluery or Brook will be ready for the NHL soon, I believe Fluery requires waivers next season and Brook the year after so they will replace Weber on the 3rd pair eventually.

As for the top 4, it is likely that one of MTL's LHD prospects plays RD... Norlinder has the skills to do it, Romanov has the defensive ability to do it and he might get to use his shot more from that side, Harris and Struble should likely be paired together next year in Northeastern so one of them should have RD experience.

If none of those guys work then trade for one or sign one when someone becomes available. They also might be able to address the issue through the draft, Petry has 4 years left, Weber likely has 2 before he retires. It is not a pressing issue at this time IMO.

What I mean is they probably really don't have to worry about it for another 4 years, so that is plenty of time to restock on RHD prospect through the draft.
