That MTL trade isn't happening, more likely we buy him out and they sign him

Also I would be surprised if we don't trade for Eichel, he wants out, he played for Quinn in college, Buffalo is falling apart, we have the assets, we need a center and they are open to trading him

There have been no reports saying he wants out. LA can and probably will make a better offer than New York ever could

DeAngleo has ZERO trade value, NYR would need to pay to have someone take them, no point with a 1/3 buyout & use him as an asset to expos in the expansion draft.

LA already has a bunch of good center prospects and Anze Kopitar so they dont need Eichel as much as the Rangers do also yeah there have been no reports he wants out but I dont think we need to guess, he might not request a trade but no playoffs for his entire career and no bright future, yeah I think he wants out

Come one, we all know Eichel is never playing another game for the Sabres, he's being a good soldier & not formally requesting a trade ...yet.

Anaheim
LA
NYR
NJD

That's my guess for who lands JE, i think Buf would rather send him out West than downstate ..
NYR apparently made an offer before this season (no details of what that included) so we know Gorton is interested but i think they'd need to overpay, & by that i mean meet the current ask to get him.
If Stamkos or Larkin become available on the trade market for Centers, that will make it interesting.

Kopitar is getting up there in age and LA has a ton of cap room. They'd likely move one of those centre prospects in the deal (either Byfield or Turcotte) and then they can always move centre prospects to the wing. Eventually could have a 1-2-3 punch down the middle of Eichel, Byfield, and Vilardi which is second to none in the league. But the fact that you pointed out that LA has more centre prospects is exactly why they're in a better spot to make a deal because centre prospects are more valuable and especially when they're getting a franchise altering centre back.

Friedman is reporting LA has zero Eichel interest. So we can abandon that notion entirely...

...what is the purpose of this comment?

Is it to try to delegitimize Friedman as a reporter?

Honestly asking.

No. It's saying just because Friedman says something doesn't mean its true. Teams aren't going to tell him everything. Just because he reported LA doesn't have interest in Eichel doesn't make it true. You think every team in the league wouldn't want Eichel on their team?
