This is likely the minimum for Johnson. I bet we send these picks and Ross Colton to Seattle for Johnson

        I will say this.

        It's a double edged sword.

If Tampa did this, their prospect pool will look really, really shallow in a couple of years.

If Tampa is no longer at the top of the food chain in the NHL by then, things could get a bit dicey to say the least.

The only upside is that Tampa would no longer be in a cap crunch smile

Tampa should do it for their futures! Also Seattle, or Detroit should take it as well. If you look at Tyler Johnson’s stats, he isn’t a bad player, just significantly overpaid!

        Tyler Johnson;
        3 years left at 5M M-NTC.

Last year compared to this year:
        65GP, 14G, 17A, 31P. 49.01FO%.
        41GP, 7G, 11A, 18P. 55.23FO%.

2 late picks, is definitely reasonable for a team with cap to take on Tyler Johnson. To me after looking at his stats, he looks like a good third liner, that shouldn’t get more than 2.5-3M. What you suggested is absolutely reasonable, and both sides should take a look at it!

I would probably take that if I were Seattle. May take another asset instead of the 3rd, would they prefer a 1st and Joseph? Who knows.
Tampa should lean towards making this deal with Seattle rather than Detroit because if they send Johnson to Detroit it simply means they lose another player to Seattle, however multiple moves will likely be necessary in order for them to become cap-compliant.

I would take this and run if I was Seattle. You also have to factor in the injured players are they still going to perform to an elite level?

Exactly two months from now, Tyler Johnson's trade protections will go from being a full blown NTC to a Modified-NTC where the Lightning will be able to trade him to 20 different NHL teams of Johnson's choosing.

I wonder if San Jose will be one of them wink

Except they need to dump multiple players. My guess is they trade Stamkos to Seattle. Radical take I know. They should definitely take the Detroit trade because the ask from Seattle will be more.

Lightning just traded Chrona. The odds of Alnefelt being traded before were slim, but now they're none.

Give me a break. If this is the stumbling block to that trade then JB should be fired. You have the best goaltender in the world, don't be silly.

No breaks, sorry. Alnefelt isn't going anywhere, and that's from Brisebois' mouth. The Chrona trade only further shows he wasn't lying.

Tampa has no need to move a potential star prospect tho. Thats why coops is saying this. Alnefelt is Tampas best prospect - but he'd also be near the best if not the best on most teams. Yeah sure like all goalies he could bust more then a usual prospect. But they have other assets to move TJ. No need to use their best.

Johnson is only $5million and there's only $2million of that amount that needs to be dumped. Retain $2million and someone would pay for him. Sorry, but Johnson is not going to result in a windfall for Detroit at this point.

I cannot speak for Mantha to Washington, but Savard to Tampa was a bidding war that JBB came out on top of. At the prices some Detroit fans are dreaming of they're going to get for taking Johnson, they're going to miss the trade announcement to another team that asked for a fairer sum to get a still useful center/RW.

We could also talk about experienced overpaid centers being worth a 2nd too wink

No one's "dreaming" of anything. They're just telling you the price. If you don't like it; shop somewhere else and good luck with that, The Wings got a fourth round pick for a prorated 250,000 in cap hit. Everyone knows you're screwed the only life preservers you're getting are made of lead. You get to enjoy the cup so I'm sure you'll be okay.

Except they need to dump multiple players. My guess is they trade Stamkos to Seattle. Radical take I know. They should definitely take the Detroit trade because the ask from Seattle will be more.
No chance of Stamkos being traded he has a full NMC. WTF would he take substantially less to sign in Tampa Bay then waive especially when they're still an annual Cup contender?

He took less because there are no state taxes in Florida. Guess which other state doesn't have state taxes.

Which would all be equally true in Seattle. Unless you're saying the city of Seattle sucks?
