What is Vancouver's timeline again? Shouldn't it be sooner than later?

What does Vancouver need? Assuming you’re not expecting the team to take Cap dumps in addition to Miller’s salary.

I don't want to sound unsympathetic or anything, but maybe he should zip it first.

I'm not interested in moving Miller and even more so if Benning is still the GM

Defensively responsible RHD to play with Hughes would be the biggest need

A Bill Masterton trophy maybe?

It takes a lot of guts to make a public outcome with his worries about where the league has put them as a team, when they're individually far from ready to play high level sport game.

A 1st, Samorukov (pretty decent defence prospect playing in the KHL this season), and a 3rd that upgrades to a 2nd if Edmonton makes the conference finals

Zip what? He said what every sports fan in our province was saying and thinking. Good on him for having the balls to tell the NHL they are nuts.

I feel like a lot of the teams who would be interested in him are not in a position to take his whole cap hit in the flat cap era. If that were the case and VAN wanted the whole salary off the books instead of a money in money out deal, I'd imagine the # of suitors would be a bit limited and his value would be lower. I like the player and fit in NJ and I'd offer the Islanders first (assuming its 25-31) and a B prospect like Maltsev, Merkley, Okhotyuk). I know that isn't a mindblowing offer but I do think his cap hit is going to throw a wrench in the return. If the ask is much more than that I would probably hold off.

Remove komarov and add Martin instead you don’t want to break Don Cherry’s favorite line in hockey.

I agree. I will say as a Devils fan that one thing that is frustrating for our fans is that when basically the whole NJ team got COVID earlier this season and some players had relatively severe symptoms, people were crapping on them for being irresponsible. Even tho there was zero evidence of any wrongdoing by anyone involved. A lot of that had to do w the fact that NJ likely transmitted COVID in a game vs Buffalo but the call to play that game was made by the league not the team. And when it was time to play again NJ got thrown to the wolves with like a day of practice and players looked exhausted and got beat up for weeks after.

That said, just because I wish the Devils were treated better doesn't mean I don't think the Canucks should be. Overall I think people need to give these guys a break. I know they get paid tons of money to play a game but that doesn't make their health or safety any more expendable than a normal human. It's a tough situation in VAN and I get where the league is coming from but I don't blame Miller for stepping up and speaking on behalf of his teammates one bit.

It was not intended to be a "take".
He complained that they only get 1 practice and 1 pre-game skate before playing their next game.
Do you realize how hard people have been crushed over the past year? Doesn't that strike you as a little tone-deaf?
People have lost jobs, homes and even loved ones.

Also, the players are well-taken care of.
They all had multiple doctors sign off and received full work-up with cardiologists.
If any teammates that were struggling with symptoms, they obviously would not be cleared by doctors to play.
None have been asked to play against their wishes.

I would be willing to take a contract back as long as it's a one year deal. For example with Florida I would take Stalman and prospects.

Honestly i don't see him being moved unless its a huge overpayment, Don't know why people are trying to trade him so much of recently, we aren't looking to rebuild at all so it makes no sense to trade him

My take on it is we don't have to move him but I think it would be worth listening to offers to see if you get any really good ones. For example if Florida decided they'd part ways with Lundell for Miller then that would make me really consider moving him. Only reason I consider it is millers contract will be up in 2 seasons and that is when we should start competing. So given his age and contract I wonder if a win now team would be willing to give up gold to put their team over the top.
