I think its pretty fair. Florida is getting an elite winger in his prime with Gaudreau and a high upside young roster player in Dube. Calgary gets the young center prospect it needs and a middle six forward to replace Gaudreau on the left side. I assume Gaudreau would agree to resigning in Florida before the trade like stone did, otherwise, yeah Florida might not do this deal.

I don’t think you’re way off or anything but there’s no chance Florida moves Lundell. They are gonna want to see what he turns into. He’s such a high end prospect. I’m a Flames fan and of course I’d make this deal from their perspective. But we know what Johnny is and what he isn’t. Dube could still get better all around and I hope he does. But Lundell is expected to be a franchise centerman who could turn them around for the long term. I don’t think Johnny and Dillon have that same potential impact in Florida.

Verhaeghe is just as good as Gaudreau (in fact has a better all around game) at 1/3of the price and is younger. FLA is a cap conscious team, and I don't feel this is an upgrade for them. And they don't want to move Lundell

C'mon man, Verhaeghe is not the player that Johnny is. He's a career minor leaguer who is having a breakout year playing with one of the best centers in the world. Verhaeghe is like a more skilled Zach Hyman - he doesnt drive play but he can play with good players. but your'e right he is cheaper, however, in this trade Gaudreau would have worked out an extension prior to the trade so he would be cost controlled for about ~5 years and FLA is also getting a Dube who is a legit middle six guy with upside and will only cost ~1m.

Lundell is way too valuable to be moved. He is playing like his team's MVP in the Finnish top league as a 19-year-old. Gaudreau isn't that much better than Verhaeghe: All of Verhaeghe's points are even-strength and he really has chemistry with Barkov. I don't see why the Panthers would do this as they don't really improve. All they do is take a risk that Gaudreau doesn't find his place in the team.

OK, I might have overstretched on Verhaeghe LOL, but he's still only 25 and is playing well, and honestly, every team needs a skilled Hyman type. An extension to Gaudreau would need to be in the 6m range over 5-7 years, and with his performance the last couple years, I'm not sure FLA would want to invest that kind of money in him. Dube is good, but middle 6 forwards are a dime a dozen, and in a flat cap world, they either need to be signed at low cap hits or swapped out every couple years for cheaper talent. Add in Lundell's potential and the trade just doesn't make sense for FLA.

Terrible for calgary, they easily decline. Gaudreau will cost ALOT more. It’s crazy how terrible this is for Calgary. This isn’t close to getting gaudreau at all. This doesn’t even get the gm to pick up the phone.
