Super unfortunate. Stammer is such a great guy. I wonder if he’s ever going to be able to return fully. Seems like these lingering injuries just keep getting him. Glad he got a cup last year even if it wasn’t with him playing every game.

I hope stammer can get back to the game, but think it’s time he needs to start looking at his quality of life after the game. These lingering issues need to be handled and it’s likely he needs to take some serious time to fix what’s going on.

Honestly it’s something that he should consider. These injuries aren’t something you want to mess with. The ones that linger are usually the worst. He needs to take as much time as it needs to figure out and fix what’s going on. Don’t want to be 45+ years old still dealing with lingering issues.

Honestly if he won another cup this year, I think he should retire and even though he’s my favorite player it sucks to watch a guy be injured so much. The other person said it right, quality of life is damn important and he’s only 31. That’s young as hell in terms of living and not as a professional athlete.

Doesn't retiring without a permanent medical issue leave the team on the hook with the cap hit? No indication it's anything other than another injury in a long line of injuries for Stammer at this point.

The other alternative is he takes a year away from hockey like Toews. He very well could

I say he takes a year off, practice with the team and participate in skates, then go play in div 1 or a non contact league, that way he stays in shape, and maybe he'll play better if he plays in a lower league. btw I'm serious, maybe taking a year off of pro hockey wiill do him goos.

Does anyone know what the injury is??

Guy can`t catch a break!

Also, no he won`t retire. Its not like these are concussions. He is 31 and heal.

The injury happened on an innocent looking backhand to keep the puck in the zone. No contact. Just a slow skate back to the bench and a limp down the tunnel.

Yeah I saw that but I haven`t heard what he actually hurt or what its diagnosed as. Really weird.

Reminds me of Beau Bennett. Guy couldn`t stay healthy. Got hurt raising his arms when he scored.

I'd be willing to bet it's related to the core injuries he had last year.

Agreed cause he had to twist his core with that backhand, can't think of anything else with that situation. Two core surgeries a couple months apart is already crazy

Man this hurts. Im starting to wonder about the state of his long term future and what’s next for stammer. He is my favorite athlete of all time and i would be devastated to see him step away but with these constant injuries it seems retirement has to be a possibility.
