Just make it a 2nd for Vanecek and Caps probably say yes.

Reinhart isn’t available. Quality over quantity anyway. Graves is the best piece you’re offering, and I’m not so sure the Sabres would need him.

Graves isn’t the best piece Kaut is, he’s averaging a ppg in the AHL and is playing on basically any team not named COL or TB. But yeah if I’m BUF I agree you want something with a little more pizzazz considering he is their 3rd most valuable asset

I would think a Reinhart trade would pattern the Mantha trade...Donskoi, Kaut, 2021 1st, 2022 2nd. Maybe the 2nd is dropped as Kaut is worth more then Panik

If I’m BUF I would rather have Graves but I think COL would definitely do that

Donskoi is a third line player, and Buffalo is shaping up as not really needing any bottom six players right now. A Reinhart trade only makes any sense if it was a hockey trade, a one for one kind of deal with equal value go in both directions. Reinhart only gets traded if he isn’t going to stick around, and Buffalo would need a top six 50-60 pt replacement, particularly a right hand shot. It’s one of the reasons I think a trade is highly unlikely.

If traded Reinhart should get near what Detroit received for Mantha...If the Sabres sign him long term the Mantha contract will be a comparable so say 6mil at the most. DeBrincat is getting 6.4 so I think Sam fits between those two. I just think it's time to clean house and let players like Sam Risto and Jack go to winning teams and enjoy success while they are in the prime of their careers. This team is at least 2 years away if not 3.

Well I don’t necessarily disagree with your assessment of Reinhart’s value, or the contract he should get, I do think the Sabres could be more competitive than anyone thinks next year. Since Granato took over the Sabres have actually been one of the best teams in the league. They are winning games without Jack Eichel, leaning on their youth and organizational depth. They are finding line combinations that are working which they can keep together next year. Players look like they are not only trying but actually working hard and outworking the opponents. Needless to say Granato is doing a heckuva job making his case to keep the job for next year. Add a top-five pick to this roster (assuming the kid might make the team) and a capable veteran back up goaltender there’s no good reason the Sabres could not make the playoffs.

I agree, with Granato it's night and day...just shows you how much Krueger brought this team down. If Adams makes a few good moves they can contend for a playoff spot but it will be a lot of if's, getting Skinner back to at least a 25 goal scorer, getting Ullmark signed and getting a dependable back up, Cozens steps in as a 2C, adding some muscle on D or the 4th line. Can't let what happened in that Boston game continue to happen. Adams can't make bonehead signings like Girgensons for 3yrs at 2,2mil or Eakins for 2 yrs @2.25mil even tho I think Krueger had a lot to do with that. It will be an interesting summer but I still say Eichel will want out once that NMC kicks in JMO

Sure, there are a lot of ifs, but in general Adams hasn’t really made a terrible move. We don’t know that signing Girgensons long-term was a bad idea, he got hurt. Sheahan and Reider have been alright, we haven’t seen Caggulla yet, but he got here for free. Eakin was brought here to kill penalties, win face offs, and play the fourth line. We already knew he can’t score, but it turns out he can’t play defense either. But he does kill penalties and win face-offs.

Adams flipped Johansson for Staal, and when he didn’t pan out we flipped him for a third and a fifth. I doubt Johansson would have gotten a similar return. Hall was a 1 year mercenary, and while he did not score for us we still turned him into a second round pick and a project player with a three-year contract. Bjork is paying early dividends at the moment.
