Anyone that's constantly shooting at the net will eventually score. I don't need numbers to tell me that. Hypothetically Komarov could lead the league in xGF as long as he took a ton of shots from the slot area. Not saying he WOULD or that he will, but, hypothetically he could.

Laine did play on the 1st line in Winnipeg. His most common center last season was mark schiefele. My point is most goal scorers are streaky and CBJ play a similar style to the isles- tortorella stifles offense. Any player who comes to the isles would see a significant drop in their production.
The isles analytics this season are top 5 in the league.. A big reason is the isles 1st line, wahlstrom , and the pelech-pulock pairing. Watch wahlstrom come out of the lineup tonight for komarov. That’s trotz way of switching it up and it’s moves like that where they deserve to lose. Trotz affinity for vets is the reason why this team won’t make it past the 2nd round.
Anyone that’s constantly shooting at the net will eventually score? How much though? If komarov takes 200 shots from the point he will likely not score 1 goal. Getting shots off from the slot is diffficult and the players that figure out to do to it consistently are among the best players in the league.
You’re making light of analytics, but the biggest reason Tampa won the cup is because of their director of analytics, who’s been around since the yzerman days. It’s the reason why they drafted kucherov, point, and cirelli. It’s the reason why they went out and traded for analytical darling Blake Coleman. What a coincidence the top teams in the league let analytics dictate their decisions.
I remember 6 months ago when isles fans said toews was nothing more than a 2nd pairing D. The analytics said otherwise, joe sakic fleeced Lou and now toews is a top 10 Dman in the league this season. Toews is a top 5 defensive defenseman , he’s miles better defensively than anyone else on the avs D core so no one can use the excuse that he plays for a great avs team.
