*** Weber retires if he is still playing like **** ***

MTL was going to offer a contract to ADA if they would have terminated is contract. NYR ARE going to buyout ADA this offseason

Now I’m done, and wow. Getting rid of the 7.8M Cap hit is insane !

The way you type I just read it in the most French accent. I feel like I’m listening in my head to Georges St. Pierre talking. But I doubt he retires even if he has a bad yea r

No, not a single dollar. NSH gets the recapture fee

nashville can't let him retire. they would beg montreal to trade him back so they can put him on LTIR. Mtl can ask for a good return.

Depending on the year it could be up to like 24m in recapture fees.

    Can look at it here:

If Weber retires after this season:
MTL retirement recapture ~$540k for 5 years (they did get a cap benefit too)
NSH retirement recapture ~$4.9million for 5 years

If Weber retires after 2022-23, MTL retirement recapture disappears as their net cap benefit disappears.

Cool my spreadsheet says the same thing. yay

Makes me appreciate Wheeler's contract structure where there is minimal cap recapture if he retires after 2021-22 season and none if he retires later. Also, the mutual termination of Buff's contract (instead of him retiring) also saved some future dead cap.

Parise's recapture is nasty, but not Weber nasty.

    We would be blessed

The alternative is to offer Seattle a captain in Weber. But ofc we'd offer him as a captain and not as a good D, so maybe with a 1st + Ylonen they would accept. It could still be seen as an underpayment for 7.8 over 5 years... but leadership & intangible has no value sarcasm

Weber will make 6M 3M 1M 1M 1M he won’t cost assets to move even if he has a high cap hit + the recapture fees are against NSH if he retires

Seattle owner will like that low salary, but cap space still has value. But that low salary could mean Weber will be tempted to retire. Bergevin could handle this smooth transition to retirement...
