If they want to keep both then both will be protected. Not sure why they wouldn't keep both at this point.

He's UFA so they can just wait til after the draft to re-sign him.

Seattle can't draft UFA's

Ok I see that now. But I still don't understand the point. Even if he was selected in the draft he still wouldn't be under contract, right?

Seattle can negotiate with UFA’s a bit before the expansion draft and would still have their UFA rights until free agency

If he gets taken then he will likely get resigned because Seattle will have more than enough cap space to resign him. + he is going to be one of Seattle’s best players if he isn’t already they’re best player. (If he gets taken )

I've followed Palms career for years as a Devils fan. I can't see a scenario in which he signs with Seattle. Much better chance he stays on East Coast. Likely with a contender.

i mean then it becomes a what if scenario. theres no guarantee he signs with the islanders if they protect him and theres no guarantee he signs with seattle if they dont. hes a unrestricted free agent. kinda how that goes.

If he signs with Seattle then he signs with Seattle. Protecting Palmieri wouldn’t prevent him from going elsewhere as a UFA.
