Description
I didn't do any crazy and long UFA signings because the Panthers need to have cap space for when Barkov's contract ends. Another Bobrovsky-like signing would mean we lose Sasha. So no Hamilton for us :(

Duclair's next contract is tough to value. His ppg hasn't grown and his goals are down but he is playing in the 1st line and has arbitration rights. I gave him almost double his salary and I think that's fair. He did reportedly turn that down from the Sens but I really don't think he deserves more.

Armia could be a similar signing to Acciari. The guy is full of Finnish sisu and wants to win. He isn't an offensive machine but he does have some skills. Most importantly, I believe he would be an amazing pickup for the 4th line that would really provide some great depth.

The same goes for Getzlaf. He could help Lundell ease into the NHL and provide some depth and experience in the center department. I know he likes it in Anaheim but Florida is really close in a lot of ways, like weather for example. Also, he would have a chance at another Cup, which he won't have in Anaheim.

Yandle is someone we need to trade. His contract makes signing Barkov harder and I don't see a spot for him on the roster next year when Ekblad can anchor the top PP unit. I could've given Boston more for taking him but in the end, it's just 2 years of a guy with a 4 million cap hit. And Yandle isn't a total deadbeat yet, he's once again on pace for over 40 points over an 82 game season.

And for the Blackhawks trade, I really think they could use some scoring. Vatrano would rank 4th in points among Blackhawks. He would be tied for second in goals. All that without even playing with Barkov or Huby or being in the top PP unit, so those amounts aren't even bloated.

After what I've done, the Panthers have over 8 million in cap space and I think we should weaponize it. We should give some teams in cap trouble some relief by taking a year-long bad contract away. In return, we could get a young, NHL-ready player who could help us go deep in the playoffs. We shouldn't, however, get anyone whose contract runs past 2022 because we need all the money we can get to sign Barkov. If and when he plays another season like this, he's in for some Matthews/McDavid money.

If I have miscalculated some values in this, just tell me. I don't think I've done any massive mistakes like most Leafs and Rangers fans here.

Seattle. They might also take Gudas but I'd take Driedger and try to sign him
2.
CHI
  1. Vatrano, Frank
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Panthers need to make way for their younger wingers and by trading Vatrano, they can improve their defense. I added the pick because the Panthers are the ones who propose the trade so they are the ones who must pay a bit more. Also, Murphy has an A on his chest. All in all, I think we have here a solid top6 winger who can put up 20 goals regularly and a solid defensive-minded top4 defenseman. Both on fair deals.
3.
FLA
  1. 2022 5th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Yandle has a full NMC but he is from Boston so I think he'd like to retire there. That's the only place he would waive to
BOS
  1. Levi, Devon
  2. Noel, Serron
  3. Yandle, Keith
  4. 2021 4th round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
The Bruins need to enter a rebuild soon. This trade helps them on their thin defense and probably keeps them in contention for one more year. I gave Levi and Noel because their prospect pool is weak on forward and goaltending, and I believe they'd rather do a quick rebuild with prospects than a Sabres-style 10-year rebuild with picks that won't enter the NHL until like the year 2027. Also, Yandle's contract ends when Pasta's does so the money won't be making his contract negotiations tougher.

Well articulated AGM

I feel like Armia deserves one of the 3W spots over

those two who aren't quite ready for it seemingly

Yeah, I just don't know how Tippett would do in the fourth line. Denisenko could thrive there, though.

Hopefully Bob is being exposed to Seattle here tho

Two ok UFA signings for 4M$ are better than him

Seems unlikely they'd take him but... maybe?

Bruins are not weak at goalie prospects. I’d rather a forward prospect of a lesser caliber than another goalie. Other than that, good job

Hawks pass, Murphy is just too important to the team, and Vatrano doesn’t really make sense for us in the long-term.

Lol, you obviously know nothing about Boston’s farm system. The strongest part of it is their goalies.

Easy no. Don’t want Yandles contract . Reilly has been great since coming over. They need to re-sign him.

"I gave Levi and Noel because their prospect pool is weak on forward and goaltending"

You could have just said you have no idea about the Bruins prospect system lol.

Vladar is only 23yr old and before being fed to the wolves vs WSH with an AHL defense in front of him, he had a .922 SV% in his first 4 games. He may not be a true #1, but he could be a 1B kind of guy like Halak.

Swayman is only 22yr old and in his first pro season after winning the Richter for best goalie in the NCAA last year. In his first 9 AHL games he posted a 1.89 GAA with a .933 SV% and since getting called up to Boston he's posted a 2.22 GAA with a .926 SV%

^Those are Boston's top two goalie prospects right now and that doesn't include Kyle Keyser who missed most of last season with a concussion. This season he's been decent for a guy who missed as much time as he did and has a .913 SV% in the AHL and a .918 SV% in the ECHL.

Safe to say Boston's goaltending depth isn't weak by any stretch.
