Description
Could see Reunanen or Robertson sneak onto the roster. Also no clue what they're going to do for the expansion so I didn't try to subtract anyone. Hajek hopefully gets traded or buried in the minors. Not so sure about using Lundkvist and Jones together either seeing as both seem to have an offensive tendency to their game and id rather split them up so that they can roam a little more freely like Lindgren is to fox. I like millers game a lot and think he could provide more offense but ideally he just becomes a shutdown dman who can contribute 25-40 pts a year and let guys like lundkvist push into the 60's or maybe even higher (Not in his rookie year obv but eventually). The Rangers are set up for the long haul. I would not be surprised to see them trade for Eichel but I didn't attempt a package because it's extremely hard to know the value. All the trades I see on here are way too crazy one way or the other. It will be in the middle of both sides. I think Sabres fans are going to be disappointed no matter what though especially considering how they did at the deadline. All I know is Kakko and Laf are here to stay and anyone that thinks the rangers would trade them for eichel can you please comment on this post so you can connect me with some of that **** youre smoking.

Unless they can pull off an Eichel trade that doesn't include Chytl, Kakko, LaF, or Krav this lineup is the way to go...minor tweeks:
1. Would consider extending Smith at 7D...if he's open to a 1 or 2 year deal similar to what Johnson got
2. Barron- another year at Hartford...unless he comes up and impresses the way Miller did (at mini camp before restart last season).
3. 4C- would try to trade for a "spark plug" type player...LA's Blake Lizotte comes to mind...OK with Rooney there if unable to make a deal for that type player
4. Expansion draft- consensus has Gaut going...I'd look to send either Howden or Hajek...both with a sweetener- a 3rd or a 4th and a prospect around #15 in the NYR prospect pool.

1. I am not against smith I like him as a player and think he gets a lot of hate. He is definitely better than Girardi and Staal were towards the end when they were the main targets of fans. My one issue however is if DQ is back, which I assume he is, then I could see him playing smith over a younger guy instead of giving the kid a shot same thing if someone were to go down with an injury.

2. Barron has looked good in the AHL this year and turns 23 before the new year. I really dislike Howden tbh and think they need to give this kid a shot to prove his worth. Seems as if the org is not ready to give up on Howden and Hajek yet but seems like they are playing their way out of jobs anyways.

3. I like Lizotte and would be fine with him there he can take face-offs as well. I agree on the spark plug but at the same time Blackwell is kindve that and Gauthier is a big body who can fly and provide some offense as well. I really hope they keep him he's been given a raw deal I don't understand why he doesn't play.

Three out of four of Jones, Reunanen, Robertson, Hajek gonna have to play in the AHL next year barring a trade with Nils arriving and assuming he will step right in. Schneider might be here quicker than we thought he would be also. Good problem to have but gotta make sure we hold onto the right guy unless some are sweetener in an eichel deal or something of the sort.

Agreed to all points....regarding Smith- I'm in favor of him as 7D....play due to injury...play to OCCASIONALLY give a young guy a night off....not to morph into a 3rd pairing D- where he's blocking the future. As far as Barron- don't want to ruin him...so wait till he's ready to take the step- if that's now, then fine- I think the NYR org envisions him as a LW (not a C). Lizotte- one of many temporary bottom 6 guys who should be able to be had on the cheap- yet adds a feistiness to the lineup which is needed....all else fails, Rooney is kinda already that guy. Blackwell- has proven to be a swiss army knife- can slot up/down lineup. Finally, Gaut has gotten screwed- seems to make things happen when on the ice...although needs to learn to avoid the dumb penalties (Strome has learned this)....but at this point if Howden is really in the plans ahead of Gaut and others of similar potential, then NYR are going nowhere
