Well he won’t be getting in unless there is an injury.

Ducharme says the cap prevents the Canadiens from bringing Evans, Caufield, Frolik etc into the lineup without an injury.

That was before they put Gallagher on LTIR. They have plenty of capspace.

Armia - Staal - Caufield

If someone touches Caufield, Staal needs to rips his head off.

🤷‍♂️
Something to keep in mind is that because the #Habs are currently in LTIR, Caufield's cap hit is actually $1,308,333, and not $880,833.

This is because there is no longer a bonus cushion in LTIR resulting in the performance bonuses being included as part of the cap hit.

LTIR is not a get out of jail free card.

Ducharme is mistaken or a liar.

CapFriendly shows Montreal with $1.5M in current space, +$3.4M (Byron) +$0.75M (Ouellet) -$3.5M (Chiarot) -$0.8M Caufield.

Lots of space if they want to play him.

I'm pretty sure Caufield's agent said there was no performance bonuses in year one because it was unlikely he would hit them and it would make it hard for MTL to call him up... so how are performance bonuses effecting him?

Yeah, Primeau, Ouellet and Byron can easily sent down IF you want to bring Caufield up.

This is just a convenient answer to calm down medias.

Ducharme says because of the team’s salary cap situation, there is no flexibility to dress Caufield (or any other taxi squad member) unless there’s an injury in the 20-man roster

I’m telling you now, he is not getting in unless there is an injury.

This is especially note worthy once the club activates Ben Chiarot because it will reduce their overall LTI Salary Pool relief by $3,500,000.

We currently show the #Habs with $3,856,334 LTI Salary Pool relief remaining.

His performance bonus for this year is only $132k so someone's gonna need to explain to me how that adds $500k to his cap hit.

Regardless even if you change the $0.8M to $1.3M there would still be $900k left in cap space after sending Byron and Ouellet down. As @jpsnow13 said it is just a convenient excuse for Ducharme.

Edit:
The calculation is done by taking the total performance bonuses through his contract and dividing by 3, which makes no sense at all honestly because he is only eligible for $132k in performance bonuses for this season.

Chariot is back, again and repeat, he will not get in unless there is an injury to the 20 man roster

@LeafsfanMathews

Repeat it as many times as you want, we already pointed out the coach is not playing him... because he is choosing not to. He is making an excuse, the fact is they could send Byron down and call Caufield up right now if they wanted to.

Ouellet has been assigned to the taxi squad and Chiarot has been activated off LTIR.

CapFriendly now shows MTL with $1.8M in current cap space and a 23 man roster. Caufield's cap hit is $1.3M. You gonna have to really walk me through why they can't send Byron down for Caufield because I'm not following.
