Honestly, I'm not really sure what Calgary is thinking. Are they doing a total tear down or are they trying to shake things up? This kind of allows them to shake things up while also being competitive. They'll have cost certainty on Voracek for 3 years as well.

Personally I think Calgary is looking at a shake up, they brought Sutter in with enough games left in the season to evaluate who he wants there next season and they will be competitive. Sutter has two more full seasons on his contract and he didn't come off the farm to coach a rebuild, Treliving also has two years left on his contract so he will be fighting for a renewal. Look for the Flames to move pieces with other teams that didn't meet expectations whether that be a Philly, Dallas, Columbus, Rangers, Vancouver, Nashville before they went on a tear! I think Calgary and the Flyers are great trade partners.

Yeah that seems better. Had Patrick been healthy and not so unfortunate I would have gladly sent over a 2nd

Agreed. What are your thoughts on the Gaudreau trade above? What do you think it would take to get a deal done?

Personally I think that Gaudreau is much lower on the Flames list of players to move than people think. I think a lot of that comes from not wanting to sell low on him, the deal above likely isn't crazy off but it's definitely not Gaudreau's value, if that pick is in the top 5-8 I definitely think it's interesting but it won't be. Personally I would only want to see him dealt in a package for Konecny, Voracek is too old to pay for that long when the Flames already have aging Backlund and Lucic for big money and similar term.

Gaudreau's value is at an all time low really, one year left on his deal, two back to back seasons of declined production and the perception that he will run for Philadelphia as soon as his deal is done, that being said, it makes him a perfect candidate for the Flames to try extend this off season. I don't think it happens cause Gaudreau's camp will bet on him rebounding and putting up big numbers next year, but if Calgary can lock him in for 6 seasons after next for 7.5 - 8 ish million a year and get him away from Monahan it could be a pretty good value deal.

Change the prospect to Eemeli Rasanen who fits Philadelphia's style better and Toronto would do it. Leafs didn't move any of their top prospects at the deadline for a bigger upgrade, they're not gonna move one for a guy that's struggled since returning from a severe concussion and from a team that's shopping him hard.

They may trade a higher prospect for one with Patrick's potential with some cost control. The Flyers would be more content keeping Patrick than downgrading the return on a trade with the Leafs.

Patrick's been in the league for 4 years and shown he's nothing more than an average 3rd liner with a history of serious injury concerns. Philly won't get a top prospect for that. Think a Sam Bennett type of return is more likely. But any of Toronto's top prospects are off the table for a player like that
