Description

There is another way to add Caufield to the roster without an injury and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Waive Staal and Byron and place them on the taxi squad when they clear. Then call up Evans and Caufield, look simple fix now we look competitive!

I would send Gustafson down before Staal.

But yeah, there's ways for Caufield to play if they really wanted to.

Gustafsson is still in Covid protocol and is more likely to be claimed. Staal has been awful in Buffalo and been pretty much invisible for the Habs so far outside of his OT winner.

Staal was traded for a 3rd and a 5th. Gustafson for a 7th. It's pretty clear who's the less wanted.

At least who was wanted more by MB, not sure if other GM's were even in on Staal. Either way even if we lost one of the 2 it really doesn't hurt our lineup that much. Evans has been as good or better than Staal and brings more speed while losing Gustafsson would only be losing his potential to get back to his offensive self. I would still waive Either of them to get Caufield in. Or even just send Byron down since he doesn't have to clear waivers.
