Description
Draft choice numbers are still likely to change, but let's just say the season ended today for the sake of the draft picks. So let's say we draft 13th overall in each round for OUR picks.

NOTE ABOUT TANKING:
We don't have the easiest schedule remaining, so we could drop as much as 8 spots in the standings if we play against other teams like we did against Detroit. Obviously that isn't ideal for anything except lottery chances but at this point we aught to not be worrying about making a 2% chance to win the lottery into a 4% chance to win the lottery especially if it ends up being to the detriment of the the young guys on the team. The hawks rebuild has come along decently so far, but we aren't 1 or 2 players away from competing, it might be wise to look at bottoming out next year if possible because of the prospect at number 1. However that may be unrealistic and overall bad for our rebuild (trading away the positive development of our players for a higher draft pick)

#13: Carson Lambos or Aaty Räty.
#45: Anton Olsson or Joshua Roy
#106 (VAN) Colton Dach F
#109 Chase Stillman F
#173 Hobie Hedquis G
#205 Riley Kidney
#216 Marcus Almquist

I used a nice mock draft found at https://www.capfriendly.com/mock-draft/166166 as well as plagiarism from various draft picks. Most of these picks were made unscientifically, with me only looking at positions, names, looking up elite prospects profiles and guessing. I feel much more confident in the top of the draft than I do later.

In expansion I hope Seattle takes De Hann or Connie. For this post, Chicago pays a third next year to ensure one is gone.

As it relates to lines, think a rotation of Nylander and Connolly on the 4th, Keith and Kalynuk on the third line, and Kampf and Carpenter on the 4th line.

I feel like this lineup continues the rebuild and development of players, while allowing prospects to break into the NHL if they deserve it. It also allows guys almost ready for, but not quite ready enough to not be forced into the NHL because of lack of depth.

Overall I think our views are pretty similar. I am curious if Stan can try to convince Taylor Hall to come for a 1 year deal for $8M. It would be signed on Day 2 like STL did with Hoffman, but that could really help this team and they are in desperate need for a top line winger. I like that you don't have Lukas Reichel signed. I'd rather have him develop further than fight for ice time with Nylander/Connolly.

I don't want Taylor Hall, and I think Boston locks him up for 6x6.

I love when people do a all-rounds NHL Mock Draft for their teams, shows a great understanding and hockey knowledge.

Good job.

He's simply an example. Pick your favorite winger.

I certainly didn't put in the majority of the work here. Look at the link.

I certainly wouldn't mind picking up some trade deadline bait, but I'm not sure where it fits on our roster. I think CDH or Connolly could be good options if they were here next season and show utility to another team.

Side Note: I have a feeling that Suter is going to be on the move the summer I'm not sure why I feel that way but I do.

It's funny you say that. I was talking about that with some friends not too long ago. Just looking at a combination of factors. We have a log jam of forwards. He's an RFA...aka cheap. He's playing really well and THUS would likely be the best trade chip we have. I just don't know where he'd go and what would come back.

The situation makes me think of the Kahun for Maatta dilemma... But no way Bowman makes a move like that under new management right? Trading him for a prospect or a pick seems redundant, but we will have to see what happens.

Steal Landeskog and lock him up long term or resign Saad as we are missing that two way guy. Cat usually plays on the right anyway so there is that top 6 left handed spot open. Maybe Reichel can work his way up. Kurashev is a 3rd liner at this point. We have a lot of 3rd liners with Nylander, Kurashev, Borgstrom (potentially), Suter, etc. We are playing guys up the lineup out of necessity, not because they are true top 6 guys.

I agree that we are playing guys up the lineup out of necessity this season, but I'm not sure how that changes going into next season. Assuming Toews comes back I think Him, Kane, Debrincat, Kubalik, and even Dach are all decent top 6 guys and we have a number of young guys with potential to fill that final spot. Take Kurashev for example, I think he would bring a nice element to Toews and Kub’s line and assuming he gets better as he approaches his prime I think he could be top 6 and not out of place. That being said I don't agree with the 3rd liner projection yet. I think Colorodo is going to resign Landeskog, but I would definitely be open to Saad on a 1yr trade bait deal if he can't find a home as easily as I'm sure he thinks he will. Not sure how I feel about singing Saad long term because he has been described as a guy who's in it for the big contract.

Interesting, I've never heard Saad described as being in it for the big contract. Kurashev to me, at this point, is nothing more then a solid two way 3rd liner. He would have to be quite a bit better to be more then a filler on the 1st or 2nd lines. However, with Strome centering the 3rd line, I think we can could create a very nice line with a combination of Kurashev, Nylander, Suter, Strome, Borgstrom, Hagel....take your pick of any 3 but a good scoring but defensively responsible line. Of course I think our 4th line is pretty solid. Just looking for one more speedy top 6 forward that can pot some goals.

Starting to think Toews might be done, but I do think it's Covid related and there are some pro athletes that just can't regain strength and lung capacity to return.

Yeah it's not promising when a guy hasn't played for as long as he has with some mystery condition but it's a damn shame considering his playoffs last season.

Agreed! Taylor Hall has had 3 pretty bad offensive seasons in a row now. He demanded the trade from Buffalo to Boston with his NMC because he's expecting an 8 year deal. Boston pursued him for a while in the offseason but didn't have the cap space to do it.
