Without Jack Eichel the Sabres Have had to begin counting more on their depth and youth, and it’s working. I think they’ve found two potent line combinations for the lines 2 and 3, and they’re experimenting with Reinhart at center again. He is working as a play maker, but he still can’t win face-offs.
When Jack comes back next season your shift a few things around, but what they found here can really make a difference.
Asplund-Mittelstadt-Thompson have been working together well as a third unit
Routsalainen-Cozens-Bjork seem to be coming together and producing, this line needs a little more time before I can say we should keep it. But when Jack is back Reinhart shifts back to his RW and Skinner stays on the left. Olofsson has been working RW with Reinhart and would likely take Routsalainen’s spot on line 2 and Artuu gets top minutes in Rochester and 1st call ups.
Long winded point being I don’t think trading Jack for a bunch of pieces necessarily fits into what the Sabres want to do now.
