I love the Eichel deal (won't happen) but trading Hart is just the absolute possible worst thing that the franchise could do.

LOL, I mean we are giving up a lot of assets and some good ones too. It's not like this is as you said "not even close." You Sabres fans act like Eichel is McDavid or Matthews...he isn't!

That’s because Jack Eichel is a top 10 center when healthy, and your basically throwing in a bad contract in James van riemsdyk and players that haven’t lived up to their potential.

Frost, Brink, Zamula and a 1st are all prospects that haven't even come close to peaking developmentally. JVR is a 2nd line winger on most teams and you get a wildcard in Patrick but ok...

This is exactly why Eichel is never actually gonna be traded most teams don’t have the assets the Sabres want.

If the Sabres believe that Frost, Zameka and Brink are going to good NHLers...plus the first rounder, I don't see how the Sabres could say no.
Any trade is going have come back to the Sabres. JVR's contract has just two years to go
So in two years the Sabres hope to those four young good assets and lots of cap space with Eichel and JVR gone. (I consider Patrick not a factor in the trade)

Eichel isn’t getting traded, especially not for that. Nolan Patrick’s value has never been lower, and Casey Mittelstadt has finally come to play in Buffalo. He’s surpassed Patrick on the ice and seems to have good chemistry with his line. The Sabres really have nowhere to put Nolan Patrick if he were traded here. JVR is a cap dump, and Buffalo already has a 2 year noose with Okposo to deal with. Prospects are all well and good if they pan out, but a healthy Jack Eichel is not the kind of player anyone trades away.

I've never understood the Matthews Eichel comparison either. I've said it from the start Matthews is way better. He always has been. But Eichel is still a top 10 centre.
