WHY WOULD WINGS MAKE THIS DEAL?

NYLANDER IS A VERY GOOD PLAYWR BUT REALLY HE IS NO WHER NEAR THAT GOOD.

Have you seen the Leafs play without Nylander? We are 1-4 ever since he entered COVID protocols. I would still be hesitant to trade him for that package, but there will be a message sent to the room if we are eliminated again. I think Detroit underpays, but I was being generous

So, the Leafs trade for Foligno to lead them deep in the playoffs, then by don't make it through the first round, so Foligno is resigned to play a position he doesn't play well.

No matter how good Nylander is, the Red Wings are in no position to trade multiple assets for one at this time. This is not an underpayment at all, its two players who in terms for production will outproduce Nylander alone along with an extra pick, while costing bit more cap. I don't think for a second the wings even think about this cause it runs counter to want Stevie Y wants which is a deep team with multiple options on offense vs a shallow team with high end talent.

If the Leafs really do dick the dog again (please God let it happen) I really don't think trading Nylander is enough of a change. At that point, it's half a decade of failure, and it warrants a larger shakeup. I don't think you trade Matthews or Marner, and I don't think you can trade Tavares. To me, Reilly has to go too.

Maybe if Toronto gets bounced in the 1st round again they can do something intelligent like fixing the defense and get a decent goalie

Was that an insult? That is neither funny or insulting. I posted that about an hour ago you had plenty of time to come up with a decent insult.
