Those UFA signings address exactly what we DON'T want to do.

If Bertuzzi is willing to sign for 5 years I think he will get around $5.5M. I don't think Detroit is far enough along to get Danault to sign. I do think Ryan resigns in Detroit the fans like him and he has been really good with helping Zadina. Plus it makes sense by the time the TDL rolls around it will be a lot clearer who the contenders are why make that decision at the start of the season. I don't know much about Martinez personal life so I don't know if he wants to leave the west coast or come back to his home town and play a couple of seasons Detroit. If he does I wouldn't be opposed to him playing a season or 2 in Detroit. One more thing right now DeKeyser is better than Cholowski and would be on the 2nd pair over Cholowski. His defensive play is still lacking. Last season when he was called he looked much better defensively but he wasn't being aggressive enough for the Wings. I think he play out the season in Detroit and that play will either get him resigned or traded.

I think he meant was by signing a bunch of vets would just take away minutes from the younger players. This season we needed those vets to stay competitive and to kind of shield some of the players he wants to keep but can't protect. I could be wrong but almost everyone here believes E Svech should have played a lot more and Smith as well. It does make sense in a shortened shortened season. As far as the expansion draft goes with the addition Panik I no longer have an idea who are the last couple players protected.

While I think they cheapout mostly I would love for them to sign dreidger. Getting younger in net, little stability would help this team alot. Id pass on danault but id sign Martinez for like 2 years.

No, like signing Frans Nielsen 2.0 in Danault, an unproven goalie to a long term, expensive deal, when goaltending is a numbers game and long term deals are a bad idea and signing a defenseman who is already losing a step to a deal that takes him to 36, in a speed game...

The Boyle and Ryan deals, cool, the rest are just putting us right back in the same mess Yzerman worked to get us out of.
