I strongly doubt Guerin would make that deal with Seattle. I think he'd rather expose Dumba and open up $6 million in cap room than give up a 2nd round pick to protect Greenway. It's already been reported that Guerin is open to exposing Dumba. It's far from a guarantee at this point that we go 8-1 instead of 7-3-1.

Soucy is a fine d-man and all, but MN wins this pretty easy.

Just in value it's a 2nd (say 50oa) + Soucy (2nd/3rd) + Lodnia (AHL depth player). Greenway is worth more than that. Dumba is worth way more than that. Heck Foligno is worth more than that.

Assuming JEE and Fiala are protected along with the NMCs; if I was SEA My order of players I'd want from MN (not knowing which protection route they go): Dumba, Greenway, goalie, Foligno, Soucy/Hartman (depending on how redundant they are to the other 29 picks).

I've been thinking lately if MN exposes Kähkönen he'll be the player picked by SEA. An Allen (MTL)/Kähkönen combo could really do a lot for SEA in net for short and long term.

I really like that possibility, not one I had thought of before. But you are right so much depends on what happens with all of the teams in the league. I think Seattle will push hard for compensation to take cap from people so it can change everything depending on who pays and who doesn’t.

Kaprizov’s contract will be in the 9.5m x 8 year range. He belongs to the wild, but if they throw him small dollars he’ll just go back to Russia till he’s a ufa. Also fiala will command somewhere around 6m.

Personally I want greenway gone. He’s just got no skill and drives me nuts with his awful play.

I’m fine with Greenway, but he doesn’t push the need one way or the other like you mentioned. For all those reasons, find a trade partner or expose him. I just can’t understand why people want to expose Dumba and keep Greener, even considering the cap issues.

    "If Minnesota exposes Kahkonen" 😵

    Omg

    Perish the thought

What differentiates him from the likes of Binn, Hart, Blaclwood, Samsonov, etc. as an asset ultimately? Similar age, ability and stats so far. Cost controlled ✔

Even discussing it as an option is wild to see

    Why not bridge Zaprizov?

All of those guys (except maybe Hill) are easily protected by their teams. MTL (Allen), DAL (Khudobin), and MN (Talbot/KK) are the teams that will have to leave a good goalie with any type of term/RFA exposed.

Kaprizov is 3 years from UFA after this year. Our options are basically 1 year or long term. If we do 2 or 3, we basically walk him to UFA and risk losing him. Long term would be the best option especially since he would just be turning 32 when an 8 year deal is expiring so it's not like he's locked down well past his prime.

    I think you're close on KK. I'm expecting 8.5M for 8 years.
