Uhhh no. Mcavoy is worth far more than Quinn Hughes. He actually plays winning hockey not defensively deficient powerplay specialist hockey. This trade is a Pettersson short.

While the guy is wrong on the Petterson front, he's not wrong that McAvoy is worth more than Hughes. McAvoy is a a complete defenseman while Hughes is not. Adding in Carlo? You're looking at maybe Boeser and Hughes, but even then it's questionable because Boston is giving up the best player in the deal.

If you 1 for 1 hughes and macavoy you could argue it but add a 2nd top 4 dman and a pick its so lopsided. They're different kinds of defensman but I'll take a few less points to have a guy who can be elite defensively.

No. Hughes hasn’t been good. He’s so so bad defensively. Mcavoy produces more at 5 on 5 than Hughes, and is about 100x the defender. One guy is a legit number one that can take a team to the final, the other guy is a lesser torey krug.

Mcavoy is worth significantly more than Hughes. Then carlo somehow sneaks in there? Obviously the Pettersson add doesn’t make sense for vancouver, but that’s how far off this trade is.
