if cbj is giving up a top 7 pick and peeke... we are getting someone better than Dunn back.

That is ridiculous. Dunn is not worth a top 10 pick let alone in my opinion a younger and possibly higher upside defenseman in Peeke. I would suggest if you are looking to acquire our top 10 pick Brayden Schenn needs to be on the table or Robert Thomas plus a blue chip prospect. I say this about the latter because you have to consider not just the selection spot but the money and team control of said selection would give St Louis.

Whoa nelly. Reel it in there. Nobody thinks that.

Peeke hasn’t had consistent time up with the big club to develop properly. With Savard moved on, Peeke will get more minutes and an increased role. And yes, he does have potential for a higher upside.

Dude, he's already 23. Literally no scouting experts/services think he has as much upside as Dunn, who had already had an outstanding two-way rookie season and helped win a Cup by that age.

Torts has stifled his growth because of his line blending and inability to get him consistent ice time.

Yeah already 23 might as well file for social security he’s so old lol. Your not selling anyone with that logic. Prime years for an adult male are somewhere between 26 and 30. Also defensemen take longer to develop than forwards and Peeke still plays with boy strength not man strength which he will have in a couple years and make a big difference, he’s not a warrior yet. 23 is not the same as it was 15 years ago. Young men in general are taking even longer to mature just from a mental standpoint nowadays. No one can claim they know the ceiling of Peeke right now because these weird covid times have adversely affected youth development across the league in a huge way with no offseason stuff. I consider most young players to be almost a year behind where they otherwise would be. GM’s understand these circumstances, so without a full normal season plus offseason with Peeke given a fair chance, no way Jackets are ready to let him go. Not to mention the departure of Savard.
