Eichel

Created by: Eli
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 18, 2021
Published: Apr. 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There's cap space for him. They've got some picks.

Not sure if a high 2nd is close enough along with one of the 1sts being pretty high, or if they'd have to add a prospect or a 3rd, or something. But I think this Detroit team ends up good.

This is why he’s not going to ask for a trade until he has a no move clause.

Just no idea why Detroit would go for Eichel

Why?
Are you saying because he doesn’t want to go to Detroit?

Sabres don’t want picks only from what I understand. Maybe 2 high prospects and 2 picks make a better package.

No because the team is in a rebuild and 3 assets are better than 1. 3ven if two turn out to be NHL players for team rebuilding is better than one great player who can not do it by themselves

I understand the reasons Detroit would not do it (same as why the Devils would not pursue Eichel). But wanted to know why Eichel would delay trade request until his NMC kicks in? To chose his location?

Clearly Buffalo has the incentive to deal him in this off-season. And likely will.

Yeah Detroit is in no position to trade 5 pieces for 1, even a center like this.

Once his nmc kicks in he has all the leverage. Look what they got for hall because he leveraged his no trade.

Okay. True statements. No man is an island. But when did Eichel have half of the above secondary scoring in Buffalo? Was it when they traded for Skinner or signed Hall? The above team's defense is kind of young and inexperienced, but they do have 9M to play with in what should be a cheap UFA market, under a flat cap. How much is Dougie really going to get?

Big difference between Hall having an NMC & being UFA in a few months vs Eichel still having 4years left
With the length of his contract, we can tell Eichel to accept the deal we like the best or he can stay here

It’s not a terrible offer,
but 2021 isn’t the best draft
And i think we’d want a couple players closer to the NHL
than just draft picks

Now that his value has gone through the floor with a disc issue... lack of great play... you’re 100% right he won’t be traded. In the event you haven’t seen the 1000+ Eichel trades on here, 80% of BUF fans have said what I relayed above. They want active roster players so that they don’t have to wait years to develop and potentially compete or potentially have bad draft picks as they often do. But outside of ACGM world, I’m with you 100%, his value has dropped so much that no one actually wants to gamble on him. BUF is stuck with him for 5 more years and hopefully he can bounce back

No not enough pieces in place to trade that much for 1 player.

Personally I don't think the NTC matters. There aren't many teams that can meet Buffalo's asking price and how many of those teams have the cap space.

There are a ton of NHL insiders that think he is gone.

GMs will find a way to make it work.
Guys of that caliber rarely come on the market.

The best thing Buffalo could hope for is NHL giving some sort of compliance buy-out so more teams can get involved.
