Description
What is your expansion draft list if you cannot make anymore trades or any deals with Seattle?
I assume:
Bergeron-Pastrnak-Marchand-Coyle-DeBrusk-Ritchie-Smith
Carlo-McAvoy-Grzelcyk
Vladar

I think Seattle would take one of Lauzon or Frederic.
Thoughts?

Honestly they could make it very difficult on seattle and protect:

Bergy, pasta, marchy, coyle, debrusk, frederic, smith
Mcavoy, carlo, lauzon
Vladar

This exposes grz who makes ~3.7m over the next 3 years which are supposedly flat cap. He has missed a ton of time this year and that could play a factor down the stretch. Im very very nervous that bruins try and resign nick ritchie for more than he is worth.

Also, there is a ton of dmen available and few forwards. Which is why i think they try to take a FW from Boston.

Just saw a mock exp draft that was based off projected protection lists and no trades.

Shatty, Colin Miller, Skjei, De Haan, Toews, Kukan, Caleb Jones, Dumba, Leddy, Dunn, Ghost, Dermott, Logan Stanley were all selected. They would then trade a couple for FWD help.

Boston choice was Frederic.

I don’t see Seattle being another Vegas. I think GMs learned their lesson and won’t make bad trades to protect mid-roster talent again. They are better off letting them take who they will take. The trades that will happen will be to push bad contracts on them.

That being said. Boston is not going to have a very attractive option for them. They should try to push Moore on them. Zboril, rights to players like JFK, Cehlarik, Kase should be in play. Two things expansion teams struggle with overall depth especially center depth and goal scorers. The rights to those 3 could be beneficial to them along with Zboril who is one of their better options from Boston anyway for 2 years of Moore is not bad. Benefits both teams.

FWDs selected: Frederic, Christian Fischer, Backlund, Erne, Bennet, Grundstrom, Kunin, Sharangovich, Blackwell, Tierney, Blueger, Gambrell, Tyler Johnson, Oshie.

G: Allen, Dobby, Holtby

Article was in Bleacher Report

Would not be the least bit surprised and they get creative and Debrusk and a couple of those pieces end up in Seattle for a defenseman they pick and they take Moore.

Yeah but I think part of the issue is that even when he's really good its that sneaky type of good. It's the opposite of Malkin or someone at their best who's knocking people over, scoring insane goals and setting up great assists - Kase is mostly a smart player, and I think its really hard to shine like that unless people are looking at deeper metrics and such. So not sure he'll really *look* that good in the playoffs even if he is. But then getting Hall for nothing would offset the Kase investment regardless, and if they sign him instead I can't really be upset, so there's that!

In what way? Like people are under-selling him? I mean i think most legitimate hockey fans would look at the big picture if he plays... and ive seen enough to know what his game is (most would admit he was very good against CAR in the bubble) If his wall-work is good, if he is able to maintain possession, create chemistry with linemates, uses his speed to push back defenders, get a decent amount of shots on net leading to high danger chances then maybe they think about it. But thats a hard ask for a guy who's played 2 games this year, and only so many concussions away from most likely being done.

The concussion he is trying to heal from could be the one that finishes him. Not his first, hope he has the courage to make it his last.

Yeah... im pulling for him. hes had a tough stretch here, never want to see this happen to a player. Its been unfortunate, just hope hes ok long term. It was tough watching Backes for a period as well knowing what he was battling.

Why do you guys think this? I know Ritchie has been on a slump, but Frederic doesnt really put up any numbers. I know his role is to be more of a physical guy/disturber. I guess you guys really like what he brings in that regard? Also, he isnt even playing in the NHL right now.

The one deficiency that is really tough to overcome is skating and Ritchie really struggles there. If he wants to play for 1M like Maroon in Tampa and be happy on 4th line, great. Don't see that happening in Boston. If they move DeBrusk or don't resign Hall then a spot opens up for him.

I'm with you on Ritchie. Sign Hall, keep DeBrusk, Frederic on 4th line with eye to future. No real spot for Ritchie unless it doesn't work out with Hall or they trade DeBrusk. They are not in a position where they have to overpay Ritchie to keep him so they shouldn't.

They gave him a NMC. Coyles play is more suited for playoffs anyways, but itll be interesting to see if the bruins can elevate his play at all.

I mean they can ask him to waive.
He might agree, taxes are far less there.
He'd be the guy I would try to unload. They can do better with 5.3 in cap.

Lots of reasons. Still on ELC, Ritchie might command up to $5m this off season. Younger, a center and winger, more potential for growth, crowd likes him, teammates like him, competitive. I think we just watch Ritchie's best season and he still doesn't seem to care most of the time. He has better hands and great size but was a product of a good pp early in the season. It wouldn't surprise me if Sweeney didn't resign him this off season just because of his contract demand, anything over $3.5m is too much.

You happen to watch the Toronto, Winnipeg game last night. 4th line Joe Thornton goes at top 3 Ehlers on two separate occasions in the third period. No repercussion. That's why Trent Frederic should be protected. He will find his spot next year.
