Description

I have two questions:

1. Travis Dermott. Do you see a spot for him in the lineup next year? Personally the only way I see him staying is if he is on the right side of Muzzin. I don’t think he’s ready for that yet though. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong, but for now Sandin and Liljegren make it next year over Dermott.

2. How do Leafs fans feel about trading Morgan Rielly? I love the guy, but personally I’m not looking forward to having to pay him. He’ll probably demand a decent raise. I wouldn’t give him any more than $6.5M

IMO Dermott is gone next season or a 6th-8th D man I see the Leafs lining up

Just my opinion though. Also I think it would be a huge mistake to trade Reilly.

Dermott is a confusing case, I agree with that for sure.

I think it all depends what Rielly is thinking in terms of an extension. I would go as far as 7mil ish but I’m just not sure with his play as of late. I am pretty confident he can turn it around, but if he doesn’t I feel we should move him while he has value. I definitely think he should not be traded this off-season, he deserves as much time as possible to return to the Rielly we know him as.

Was there any update on Hyman? That was a pretty vicious knee. I think he may be done for the season playoffs too. I hope not I like him as a player.

The last I heard, there will be an update tomorrow. Hopefully he’s not out long term.

Leafs keep the Reilly next season, as the Leafs are in a "win" mode. But some team will overpay him (not the Leafs) due to his points he gets on the PP and even strength. But geez he is poor defensively. There will be much better value available than paying Reilly his UFA contract.

If Travis Dermott isn't ready for a top 4 role "yet" it's because he's never going to be. he is what he is.

Also on the Morgan Reilly thing, I think he's skirted a lot criticism for his frankly horrendous defensive ability due to him being on a tremendous value contract. He's one of the most offensively gifted Dmen in the league, but there's no way in a million years would I feel comfortable paying him 8mil like he could easily get on the open market.
