He can probably take a year off and come back if he wanted as well. Nashville serves for the cap penalties as well

Yeah that is another reason I don't see him retiring early. He was happy in Nashville and was well liked. He also seems to have a ton of loyalty and integrity so I think he plays as long as he can so as to not screw over the Preds. He signed the contract so I think he tries to honor it as best he can. He may retire 1 or 2 seasons early but IMO that would be about it.
