Description
I have been informed that Timo Meier is not the second coming of Wayne Gretzky. I still like the player though and wonder if a little Swiss connection could help him revitalize his game.

Also. Now that I have imagined Kuokkanen-Coleman-Sharangovich I want it. Maybe need it. Give me what I want Tom Fitzgerald.

Agree with you but in this scenario he's jippin SJ by offering the Isles' 1st not NJ's so no deal there.

Mike Reilly 3m?! Aahahahah wtf you better be kidding me. Reilly is the worst defensive defensemen of all time. He also has a terrible IQ. He's good at moving the puck but.... That's it. Like his only purpose would be on the 2nd PP unit if you're deseperate. Surely you can find better than this

Agreed what are teh needs in SJ? We have a pretty good prospect pool, a bunch more picks and cap out the wazoo!
Is Lebanc also a Tony Dengelo Jr? Dont really care, but if he needs a soap box for his personal stance on things, I'd rather not, otherwise there is interest. thx

I don't watch enough Sharks games but I thought Meier was very good based on what Ive heard Sharks fans say. But when I posted an AGM trading Zacha, Boqvist, and the Islanders 1st for Meier the overwhelming consensus was that that deal was a massive overpayment for Meier. Not just NJ fans but a bunch of fans from different teams. People said that Boqvist and the 1st alone were more of a reasonable offer. I look at Meier's stats and I see a good winger but not anything remotely close to top 5 pick value. If SJS wants to keep him because he's a fan favorite that's fine I get that but it seems like there might be some hometown overvaluing. Also the only way I see them moving him is if they are rebuilding. Gets $6M off the books and his deal is structured so that his next qualifying offer is $10M which is a major problem for SJS with their cap situation. All that said if they really think they have a chance to contend for a Cup between now and then Meier has to be part of the solution.

Same reason we traded for Nolan Foote when we don't even know if he's that good yet. When you can acquire potential for good value you do it. I don't know if there are any other ways where you can acquire a 22 year old, 6'4, 230lb,1st round pick, right handed defenseman for just a 2nd round pick. You have to overpay on the offersheet for it to be worthwhile or else Tampa would match. NJ has zero cap issues (in fact they might be trying to stay above the floor) and if it doesn't work out then you just sign him for cheaper or trade him before his next deal. But I think he has been solid in Tampa so far this year.

Not at all. I dont know where that perception came from. I think he might be conservative but thats a very common thing for hockey players. Never has pulled any of the crap that DeAngelo has and is well liked by teammates it seems.
