We're not taking a cap dump and giving you Namestikov and a 3rd back. Get outta here. The cost to take on Loui alone, is probably a 1st, straight up, with nothing going back.

It is likely a top-ten pick.

It's pretty easy to argue Lind is a better asset all told than half the players being protected there though especially given age and cost controllability (?)

Odd that he'd be possible to select as well

Looking forward to his nearing debut ✔

Just A 1st rd pick, not this years 1st rd pick per se. I guess, even this years 2nd would suffice, since it's a high 2nd and it's the last year of his deal. I'm not even saying Vancouver should do it, I think they're better off buying him out, or just riding out the last year of the deal, but you can't just give bad contracts away, it will cost them, that's my point.

Yeah I'd be thrilled with that if I were Detroit

I think the Canucks are nuts, especially in lieu of recent events, to get rid of Miller, especially for a D reclamation project

If Benning get's Pettersson and Hughes on those deals then pretty much everything was worth it.

There is zero chance wild are trading dumba for another winger, expensive contract, & older winger player in jt Miller

Don't come @ me with bogus reasoning that he can play some c. He's not a c

Wild aren't trading dumba for a winger

Jersey says yes and we can make it a better deal on the return.
Any chance Rathbone gets added to the trade for ________________ and ______________ from Jersey?

They're overpaying in this scenario. Consider this: Staal retrieved us a 2nd for 1 year at $5.7M cap hit ($4.2M real dollars). Loui will be 1 year at $6.0M cap hit ($4.0M real dollars). That's actually very similar.

Namestnikov is probably worth a 3rd, maybe a hair more. So for the same valuation as a 2nd (Eriksson) + 3rd (Namestnikov) + 3rd we get a top 15 (worst case) pick? That's a hell of a deal for Detroit.

Looks like to me that Canucks waste that top 10 pick, and then spend to the cap, hoping Ferland and Beagle are on permanent LTIR and are still a crappy team doomed to miss the playoffs in 2022.

(Well, I don’t know if I can answer that fairly on behalf of VAN)

But yes. Would be cool to get Rathbone and Walsh back together again.

    It was Motte or Lind.
I figured one would be 7th forward protected.
Other would be taken by Seattle.

That's actually a pretty solid argument. I am probably over valuing Namestikov, because I really like him and don't want to trade him, but as far as asset management, you're not wrong.
