Time to Turn It Up

Created by: Duggysdanglers
Team: 2021-22 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 19, 2021
Published: Apr. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ryan Graves trade gets made before the Expansion Draft so Colorado does not lose him for nothing. Ottawa really only has 1-2 D worth protecting.
I think both UFAs are fair value. Danault is a veteran defensive shut down C that can take the heat off of younger players like Stützle and Norris. Lots of mentoring as well. Ditto for Savard. Chabot absolutely needs a stud stay at home RD to support him. Savard will be the reincarnation of Marc Methot. Lots of value there.
Lassi Thomson is exempt from the Expansion Draft and Cal Foote is not.
The Sens should have another top 5 pick this year and I think they should focus on high end RW. I think Dylan Guenther or Chaz Lucius would be good fits. Other than that, there’s obviously nothing wrong with taking Beniers, Power or Clarke.

now's the time to go all in. id rather have a guy that i know can fill a role rather than a guy i hope can fill a role.

Except you don’t know the guy can fill the role, you don’t know that he will fit in the locker room, you’re hoping, you and think. But if all in is a 3C then I think you’re looking for impact in the wrong area. The Avs don’t necessarily need their 3C to be a point producer because of their defensive scoring. For me if I’m going all in I’m trying to get someone like RNH, not somebody like Zajac or Haula or Granlund. I’d definitely be down with moving Compher to clear space for someone like that.

don't want someone like rnh that will screw the cap. a player like that you have to give term too. depth scoring is the way to go.

So you want to block the prospects? I’m being a tad antagonistic but wouldn’t it be nice to count on Kaut, Newhook, LOC, Bowers and Timmins to fill 5 roster spots for under $5M. Hell if you said you were doing that I could get behind moving Compfer wink

kaut and newhook should get a time next year. loc as 13th forward. bowers full time ahl. timmins 6th dman if they get rid of johnson. preferably 7th dman tho.

Bowers needs to make the leap, he’s been kinda screwed by Covid but he is going to be 22 before the start of next season and he projects as a bottom 6 guy not a top 6. That’s my take on it at least.
